Revue Thommen’s beginnings date all the way back to 1853 in the small Swiss town of Waldenburg. After nearly a century of crafting its own watch movements, the company began producing aviation instruments for the Swiss Air Force in 1936 Read More

How about giving us a less homage watch from the same brand like the diver professional: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N384VXK I'd purchase that, for the right price ;)

EtaiThat link shows it uses the ETA 7750, which can’t be correct, but does show there’s one new, for $399. What’s “...the right price...”?

AmsterdamnedI think not, I believe it's an ETA 2824. As for the right price, I think I saw it around $350. Would go this way over a Glycine or similar

Looks very cheap to me. Glycine , Christopher Ward, Steinhart are far superior options. The non sale price is a joke. Gut feeling is RIP OFF. Plus the buckle looks like a cheaper Seiko. Long heritage? Joke. The name has probably been bought by a Chinese company. Just looked at their site. Even the nicer looking watch have super cheap Ronda quartz movments confirming my hunch of a buy out. Who actually requested this drop?

ConstantineCWhen you use the expression "rip off" what claim specifically are you making and whom is it directed at?

I would just like to take this moment, to remind everyone--since this drop has gone live again, that stating anything along the lines of: "These watches are just another Rolex ripoff" marks you as a new-be-twat who just got here Tuesday and obviously doesn't know fuck all about watches, and even less about dive watches. You'd think by now I wouldn't have to point that out, but after reading the comments from the last go-round--it's apparent some folks need a refresher course. On the other hand, If you do like these watches and are considering one, as mentioned before, a good place to start doing you price comparison/due diligence homework is here: https://www.overstock.com/Jewelry-Watches/Watches/Revue-Thommen,/brand,/292/dept.html

Looking like a rolex can't be the only reason to plunk down $400. I got an akribos that looks at least a little like a rolex, with rotating bezel and everything for under $50 on Amazon.

JazzmanI mean a 50$ watch can have a ETA 2824-2 movement right?

Yeah, no. Wearing this in public everyone would ask " Submariner with date"? Love the movement just a bit of originality with 300m would have been terrific.

Okay, seriously now, I don't know anything about this company's products but you know who also sells the heck out of 'em? Overstock.com! Who knew? Anyway, not saying their prices are any better, but for spec comparison, model selection and decent photos, they're a pretty good source of info: https://www.overstock.com/Jewelry-Watches/Watches/Revue-Thommen,/brand,/292/dept.html

made swiss watches since 1853 and the best they can do now is rip off rolex submariner.

We're you trying to make a point that these were nice examples and shut me up? These are all horrible imitations. While a micro brand can be forgiven for doing submariner rip offs. A so call Swiss watch company wirh heritage going back to 1850's should not be doing this.

TigerUKYou must be kidding--why would I want to shut you up? You say the most entertaining things! No, I was merely pointing out that Rolex Submariners have been the de facto design basis for dive watches since before you started wearing Pampers, and that pointing out that resemblance, each and every time you see another one, would be akin to pointing out that all airplanes seem to have wings these days (and questing where they all got that idea from) is mostly irrelevant at this point--so long as they still fly. So yes, there are many watches that have either borrowed from Rolex's design, or copied it micron for micron. If you'd like to suggest a more unique design that might also be a viable money-maker, I'll bet the good folks at Revue Thommen would be thrilled to hear from you. Have your people, call their people!

Re: Today's drop (4/15/19) be sure to note comment dates from earlier drops advising stock levels, etc--another thing that sucks about MD's design: comment dates are nearly impossible to read!

Haters gonna hate. Of course it is the "same Watch" as the Grovana, except for some details. Grovana is licensed to produce the Revue thommen trademark watches, and the same design is used for these divers, except there are some models that carry the Revue Thommen name that have other colour combinations than the Grovana ones do. Except from that I would expect these divers to be the same. However, I prefer the brand REVUE THOMMEN because of its history, slightly different models and because the prices Are basically the same. Also Massdrop allows me to easily pay my VAT on importation because of Professional parcel handling, whereas many other companies systematically try to avoid customs as a service to their customers, sometimes just ending up with extra paperwork for me to get the Watch through customs. This is a good Buy, and a solid modell. I owned one before, and Grovana produce great Quality watches whether the brand is RT or Grovana.
