I would not have gotten this if I knew the accompanying documentation was going to be Japanese-only print on what would normally be the throwaway imnet packaging cardboard.
Then again I would not have bought it had I read the comments that weren't there when I comitted. Lol. Future buyer, beware.

For people saying ohh this is too coarse, you never reprofiled a blade have you? These aox stones are good for setting up bevels and overall a usable edge. For super steels get a silicon carbide or diamond stone for heavy removal

I'd be very interested in a set with varying degrees of grit. This would be a starting point for some tools or for the initial repair steps, but I'd really like a set of these, going all the way up to 4000 or 8000.

I thought Arkansas stones were made from naturally occurring stones -- these stones are synthetic.

swimjayThese are not Arkansas stones by any means, but, then again, they aren't advertised as such. They're clearly labeled as synthetic aluminum-oxide sharpening stones.
I'm waiting for them to have a drop for Arkansas Translucent stones.

Morrowind542@Morrowind542, you're correct that they're not advertised as Arkansas stones, nor listed as such -- but they were when they first went up.  The headline text has changed.

Seriously?! I would have wanted a 1000/8000 stone, not this garden tool sharpener...

120 and 320 grit... I would use this for an Axe or cheap machete. Don't let anything this coarse touch a good knife unless it has a sizable chip or rust that needs to be honed out.

xzezAgreed, For field knives I use my 600/1000 grit stone then my 1000/3000 stone. For kitchen the 1000/6000 if the knife is really dull then the 6000/8000.
