Ideal for sharpening sporting knives, kitchen knives, cutlery chisels, and wood-carving tools, RH Preyda’s Tri-Hone Kit comes with three separate stones for a natural sharpening progression. Use the synthetic Coarse Aluminum Oxide Stone to shape the initial edge of your blade; use the Aggressive Soft Natural Arkansas Stone to hone the edge; and use the synthetic Fine Aluminum Oxide Stone to polish it. The included wooden stand gives your hand plenty of clearance while holding whichever side you use firmly and flatly in place. To use a stone, simply add four to five drops of honing oil (recommended), align your blade at a 15- to 20-degree angle, stroke the blade 3 to 10 times, reverse the blade, and repeat the process. Each kit includes a 1-ounce bottle of honing oil.
Note: At checkout, choose between a 4-in, 6-in (+ $12), 8-in (+ $15), and 10-in stone (+ $20). Images shown are of the 4-in kit.
Founded in Chicago in 2013, RH Preyda satisfies an industry need for handcrafted sharpening stones with a range of applications. Quarried by hand in the Ouachita Mountains of Arkansas, each of its stones is made from 100-percent novaculite—a material known for its density and unique siliceous structure. Since novaculite’s prehistoric discovery, it’s been used to fashion arrows and axes, and today is used to make high-quality sharpening stones suitable for virtually any blade-edged tool.
