FadingfictionUSPS is very aggressive with their shipping weight restrictions, anything under 13 ounces ships for a couple bucks, and once you hit 14-16 ounces it basically doubles to 5-6 dollars. It's unfortunate but a reality.
If you follow this link: http://postcalc.usps.com/MailServices.aspx?m=2&p=0&o=12&dz=33311&oz=94103&pob=0&MailingDate=1/20/2015&MailingTime=8:00%20AM&rgt=0&live=0&dop=0&hzm=0#
You'll see a "First Class Mail" option for $3.29 to ship 12 ounces.
If you follow this link (same link, but 14 ounce weight instead) http://postcalc.usps.com/MailServices.aspx?m=2&p=0&o=14&dz=33311&oz=94103&pob=0&MailingDate=1/20/2015&MailingTime=8:00%20AM&rgt=0&live=0&dop=0&hzm=0#
You'll see that the "First Class Mail" option disappears and the cheapest is "Standard Post" for $6.73.
Our bulk rates are a bit cheaper than these posted rates, but it still shows the dramatic difference in shipping rates when you get over that critical level. Unfortunately two pairs of socks, plus the packaging and label end up being 14-15 ounces. In reality, it's arguably cheaper to send you two pairs in separate packages!

FadingfictionIt's expensive so the guys selling to you pocket half the shipping money. High shipping costs are lies in this case.
