Product Description
Sewn by hand in San Francisco, the Sutro backpack gets its name from the iconic Sutro communications tower, which sits near the top of Twin Peaks in the heart of San Francisco. Minimalist by design, the bag's open interior is easy to load from the top and can accommodate tall items like poster tubes or a baguette Read More

There doesn't seem to be much activity here since the last drop ended but let me just say that this may be one of my most favorite backpacks I've ever owned. for reference, I got a navy blue outside and orange interior with a matching dopp kit.
It's compact and unobtrusive when used regularly, and when filling up the roll part I can fit a ludicrous amount of stuff in it; definitely more than expected. Fabric loops are indispensable for clipping my keys and bike light to the bag when biking, plus I've clipped the matching dopp kit to the side loops with carabiners and was able to fly with it multiple times, fitting a week's worth of clothing in it (granted, it was very snug). Weight distribution is fantastic, definitely beats my old Chrome messenger bag by a long shot. Lastly, there is no question in my mind that the thing is an impenetrable fortress in terms of abrasion and water resistance; even in torrential downpour on my bike, the waterproof zippers and materials work flawlessly.
My only gripes are that I have to organize my things vertically, which can be difficult to get used to, and the front pocket is kind of diminutive. However, the size access zipper helps with taking specific things out of the bag quickly and easily without reorganizing everything.
Superb job, good on Rickshaw Bagworks for a quality product.

Hey @foldergeek,
Yes, the small outside pocket does have one pocket with two slots (about 1/3 and 2/3 width of the pocket). I've posted a shot below of the organizer pocket of my Sutro bag (same design, different ext/int materials).

I will try to get more pics but our photo team is pretty busy at the moment and it might be a couple days.
Agreed, @Amafan I got a chance to visit their factory in the Dogpatch and watch the whole operation - pretty cool.
Greetings from Rickshaw HQ in San Francisco. The Sutro Backpack is our bestselling backpack. It is intentionally minimalist in design — our answer to bags that have too many pockets. All of our bags are made-to-order right here in our own SF factory. We celebrate our 10-year anniversary in May (hard to believe!). The waterproof xPac fabric is laminated by Dimension Polyant in Connecticut (the world's leading manufacturer of technical sailcloth for boating and windsurfing). We use USA-made fittings and fabric whenever possible — but some fabrics aren't made here anymore. The 420 packcloth liner in the Sutro Backpack is imported. The combination of xPac and 420 packcloth makes this bag a light-weight champ! The front pocket has a slot for a pocket notebook or phone and a pen. The side zipper is is the "money feature". It keeps your water bottle hidden but easily accessible, and gives you direct access to stuff that drifts to the bottom of the bag — which is usually the very thing you're looking for. I'll be checking-in on the discussion, and I'm happy to answer any questions you have. All the best, -Mark
Thank you!

I've been using a Rickshaw Commuter bag and Notebook cover for 5 years now. It's been essentially bulletproof after years of use and miles traveled. I'm looking at it now and it still looks like I just got it in the mail. I've been to the Rickshaw factory in SF, and met Mark. He's got a great little company and continues to innovate.
I don't have any affiliation with the company other than being a satisfied customer.

Are these made in the US? Where do they get the materials? Does the front zippered pocket have organational slots? Can we get pics of the inside and straps? I like the looks and if made in the US with US materials might just push me over. Cheers
