Am in the market for new hikers, and these might fit the bill. (Can't stand all the newer Merrell-like hikers with fabric and mesh going every which way.) I may send my Sundowners in for a rebuild, if possible (after many years, the internal fabric is separating from the footbed). Anyhow, two questions:
First, does ANYONE have experience with wool-lined boots for summer hiking? I have a nice pair of Woolrich Niner boots that I'm interested in taking out, but haven't had them in a hot environment yet. Wool has the potential to remove sweat and release it better than, say, leather alone (not going multi-day hiking in Redwings!), but then it might also lead to more sweating...
Second, would you say these are "hikers," as in really stable, comfortable, durable boots made to go 30+ miles in a weekend with a 25+ pound pack, or are they nice looking hiking boots that can handle an afternoon of dirt but not me with a pack?
Any input appreciated. Cheers.

climbrocksYeah I'm in the same boat as you. I'd like input as to the true intended use of these boots. Are they comparable to something like the Alico Tahoe(http://www.sierratradingpost.com/alico-tahoe-hiking-boots-for-men~p~63669/?colorFamily=04&merch=prod-rec-prod63669)?

climbrocksIt's hard for me to give any input with full confidence as I wear sneakers when backpacking and have not hiked with these, but my hunch is that they'd be best for general roughing it, but not for hardcore backpacking. Again, not saying that from experience, just wouldn't feel comfortable sending you on a trip though the Andes with boots from a company that makes stylish shoes. That said, there's nothing at all that makes me doubt the construction or durability of these bad boys. Hopefully that makes sense!
