See a bit of arguing over this one , don't own it, never saw it in person so can't come down on either side. What I would like to see ( and this is far from just a formerly Mass Drop issue) is the spine , if you're selling "Damascus" seeing the spine and on this model maybe the flat edge in the choil go a long way to identifying Damascus , laminate finished (hardened core), or just outright fake. And on a side note labeling the steel never hurts ,Damascus is pretty vague.
Okay, I see there are a lot of complaints about this one. I had bought the hummingbird drop a while back and it seems fairly decent, and small just as described. This particular one offer here seems to be a bit more deceptive. It is clearly one of the common gearbest offerings and drop has made an effort to hide the actual brand name. The one picture that shows the brand name and logo is zoomed way out and appears to be slightly subdued to hide the logo and name. Hx Outdoors seems to be a rebrander, and quality can vary quite a bit, and a lot depends man who actually makes the item and what materials are used.
Good luck with that, that is not how it works in the US. I have been in business for over 40 years and if you want to go after anyone because of them breaking the law then you have to sue them. Our government here is not as functional as your's appears to be.
Correct. I'm looking at the best marketing images the company proposed to put forward, and they look suss as hell. And considering THE EXACT SAME KNIFE but with a plain S35VN blade is available elsewhere makes this double suspect. But hey, feel free to order and prove me wrong.
JonasOBecause no knife has ever been offered in different blade alloys, right? Here are some phrases to read up on with regard to a very similar looking knife online; ”outsourced manufacturing,” “counterfeiting,” “3rd shift,” “not making assumptions based on something someone else posted here because you think it makes you sound clever.” Good reading, I promise.
Drop is breaking federal law everytime they refuse to accept a return within one year of purchase. The Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) states that anyone can return a product in the same condition it was purchased with no questions asked within one year of purchase. This federal law cannot be overruled by any company rules. Drop gives a buyer a hard time for a return even when the product has a defective issue. For this reason among others I hardly look at Drop anymore and I think their days are numbered. The fact they just had a warehouse sale is an indicator of this. Also it is interesting that in the warehouse sale there are no knives so that tells me knives sell well. However, that is the one product group they have eliminated as a standalone which is very poor management decision making. At every juncture Drop appears to make the wrong decisions, again I think we will be seeing them be bought out or shut down, the writing is on the wall, they are scrambling right now.
Again I do not understand your point, you never come to a point. Your last sentence makes no rational sense. To enforce law try doing it pro se. You can represent yourself in a murder case if you want to, good luck with that. I have nothing more to say except my point is that there are signs that DROP is failing and poor customer service has a lot to do with it. It has nothing to do with international law. I await for your lawsuit against DROP since you think it is so easy.
Spokes30This is not the kind of law that needs to be enforced pro se. To use your murder case example, it is the law that is doing the fighting not you. Similar to a warranty claim almost exactly.
I never said I would need to sue Drop, only that they have breached laws in other countries as well as in the US.
Damascus is not a type of steel - unless it's the ancient process of mixing iron with steel and coal. Any steels can be used to make damascus; This could easily be form over function, esp when they don't say what the steel is.
The quality of the blade is Not as good as the humming bird. Also comes stamped HKOUTDOORS.
Oh and it's not sharp at all and uneven sharpening from one side to another. It doesn't even cut my finger. What's the deal with complaints on subpar products ?
Just a lil but bigger than the hummingbird, interesting....
But, yeah, this "damascus" doesn't look NEARLY as nice as the Damasteel in that one 🤔
S35vn mentioned by @nextcityplanner sounds much better to me than mystery Damascus
Decent looking little knife
I'm not familiar with titanium coated stainless handles....wonder if you can still anodize the stuff with electricity?
Might have to check it out one of these days, nice and cheap little guy, thanks 👍
