Take one look a Rike Knife’s RK-TR03 tactical pen and you’ll see it’s something special. Hold it in your hand and you’ll come to the same conclusion Read More
It's very much a full size pen, not a lightweight thing for wispy summer fabrics. The glasscracker is a nice smooth ceramic or carbide ball that retracts into the pen body when not in use and doesn't create a hand-hateful point like the conical pointed breaker tips.
The bolt has notches for the breaker and pen, plus a third notch to prevent the pen from getting accidentally exposed in your pocket. It's smooth and the anodization looks nice, it's colorful and quite shiny. The clip is good but like some Rike clips I've had before it is fairly tight.
The ridges on the side took some getting used to. I like the heavier weight. My usual preferred pen is a Zebra F-402, so I don’t have a lot of similar pens to compare this one to. The ridge designs make it easy to re-focus on something during meetings and get back to notes.
The thumb know fell off within a few days of use. It was ok as it just screwed back in after I found it. Just recently the glass breaker fell out and the thread is actually damaged, which was the reason it was not screwed in properly in the first place. Just over the pen now. BTW, I own a bunch of Rike knives, Hummingbird, 1508s, Thor 4s, Unicorn and Tulay... sooo disappointed
The ridges can be painful after writing for more than 10 minutes. The bolt is fairly loose and can easily detract out from writing mode. Has a good weight.
So I dont really know anything about pens. But I do know that I really like this one. Looks cool, writes well, and has some good weight to it. Dont really know what else to say about a pen.
