Product Description
Just like the bird it’s named for, the Hummingbird Mini Flipper from Rike Knife is small, agile, and beautiful. Measuring just 3.75 inches overall, it’s not exactly a workhorse, but that’s not the point Read More

I bought this as a novelty gift for a family member, and I was very happy with it from the moment I opened the package. This thing is VERY small, but that's part of what makes it amazing. The details are incredible, and the closer you look, the more you see. Even the action was flawless, though because of the handle size it's easy to accidentally depress the lockbar a little, making the flipper tab not work as planned. Just adjust your grip and all should be well. At the price I paid here (a full 50% off normal) this knife was an excellent deal. And no, this is not a "phony damascus pattern" as one of the other reviewers erroneously stated. The blade is made using Damasteel company's rose pattern damascus steel. Some of the world's most prominent custom knife makers use their products, as do some higher-end models created by production knife companies. Based on their apparent lack of understanding of what Damasteel is, I must conclude that the reviewer generally does not know what they are talking about, and probably are not in the target audience for this product in the first place. Every detail about the knife is given in the description, from the materials to the dimensions. If you have an issue with any of the listed specifications, do not buy it. It's that easy. However, if you go into it knowing what to expect, you won't be disappointed.

What else can I say but that it’s really cool looking and I don’t think that there could be a higher quality knife of this size. The fact that they included All of the standard modern flipper feat in a knife that fits in the size of most regular sized blades is super cool. Also the price on Massdrop is basically the best deal for this knife I have seen.

Gonna be lazy and copy/paste from my comment before reviews were a thing here :
All the pics and reviews truly cannot prepare you for just how ridiculous these things are once you get them in hand haha
Overall the fit and finish of everything is truly impressive in miniature form. All machining on the handles are perfect. Dismantled one of them and the tolerances for how everything fits together was nothing short of impeccable. The floating spacer and lock pin fit so snugly I thought they were attached for a minute.
The action out of the box on all 3 was pretty snappy. The flipper takes a bit of pressure to release, but then the blade just flies open. Lock bar is a little difficult to release due to the size, but no worse than could be reasonably expected. Overall smooth opening, slightest bit gritty feeling closing. All 3 detent holes look smooth and well drilled. After cleaning and re-oiling with some Hoppe's No 9 on the one i disassembled, that gritty feeling is about 90% gone. I imagine it'll be fully gone after the detent wears itself a groove. One other thing to note, there are steel washers between the bearings and the titanium handles, as expected..... But i could only get one side to release the washer, the other is completely stuck in there. Curious to see if that will be the same on the others
Only 3 minor complaints that result in the loss of one star: 1- the edges are sloppy sharp at best. All 3 have grinds that are uneven in one way or another. 1 is particularly bad where the bevel width on one side is twice what it is on the other, and the grinding goes right up into the ricasso 😣 2- there's a bit of black slag left in the blade cutout on all three. Looks like maybe hardened gunk leftover from the blade polishing. No biggie, but was a noticeably large amount on each one and took a hard scraping to get it out 3- the pocket clip CANNOT be removed from the knife. To do so would require cutting down the threaded spacer. Poor design choice for something that's sold with a sheath for neck carrying

think of it as a small letter or package opener. tiny should be the word, not small.

The knife is attractive and the action is smooth. I planned to carry it but on the first day of doing so realized that the edge of the knife protrudes beyond the spine edge of the handle when folded, not only cutting the cloth of my pocket but also lacerating my finger when i withdrew the closed knife from the pocket.

topo23Care to elaborate with anything that might actually be useful? Why was it disappointing? What makes you think it's not worth 30 dollars?

Pretty but not worth it !
To start I must emit that this order is my fault for the misunderstanding of the size of this knife. This knife with the blade out is smaller than my thumb. If this knife had a 3 inch blade and cost twice as much I’d buy it but as it stands with this size it’s not worth the cost. This knife comes from England , maybe they should outsource to India to keep the cost down. The knife wouldn’t even make a good letter opener. Meanwhile, I’ll be adding the knife to my collection display and I’ll add in a magnifying glass to look at the details.

Much smaller than expected, then again I guess that should be more of a cautionary tale for the buyer. Other than that, its much less value of a knife than I would expected for such a price. You can buy much higher quality metal in a larger knife for cheaper.

Unfortunately I failed to read others comments regarding this knife. I did not realize it was a knife I was purchasing for one of my daughters dolls, as that is the size of this knife. The pictures certainly make it look like a nice knife with great detail, but the reality is you will need a magnifying glass to see any of it. I was greatly disappointed with this purchase.

The best looking knife I own. This is a work of art, I would not actually use this knife. It's more like a piece of jewelry if anything. If you appreciate art, you can appreciate this knife. This knife will most likely surprise you on how small it actually is.
