Which sort do I need as a drummer in a rock/pop band? Some sites tell me to go for protection on 25db attenuation, but it says here that the plugs for muscicians protect to up to 9db.
I use the heavy metal ones for practice as a vocalist in a metal band and they work great. Much cleaner sound than other plugs I've used. For you I'd say go with the Rock Protection. The musician ones are minimal protection for note clarity. I'm going to order a pair of those to try on stage but wouldn't use them for regular practices.
There are other Rooths, and one is specific for drummers. It has about 20 dB total protection, number 6021, but it looks like MD isn't offering all the Rooths.
My guitarist is using some 18 db reduction ear plugs and he doesn't have any problems with them. We practice in a small square room so that has to mean something for drummers right lol.
