My problem with these types of plugs is that the music at concerts still sounds muffled. I'm still trying to find a brand that really works well without loss of sound quality.

MysticSolarSilicon is definitely better than foam in that case. Look at the Etymotic plugs (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Delectronics&field-keywords=ety+plug) I have some ER20s from a long time ago that do a great job at doing exactly what you describe. I'm hoping these will be just as good with slightly smaller stems and more convenient case but in any case still waiting on Massdrop to clear up if we can buy 2 different "pairs" in the same "2-pack" order

MysticSolarEtymotic INVENTED the in-ear monitor earphone, and has always followed the concept of the equal-loudness contour, so they basically understand sound signature at the core.
Now, you gotta choose between the ER20 ("ety-plug") or the ER20XS which is the newer version that should sound better. I would just pick up both considering they're together less than the price of one concert ticket and definitely less than the price of losing your enjoyment of hearing quality early.
One very very important thing is make sure that in your purchases you get both the large light grey opaque ear tips, and the smaller dark grey translucent eartips. Find which ones fit better and Google as for how to get a good fit with the Etymotic tips. The fit is very tight but really comfortable once you get it right.
