Product Description
Originally developed by the military for flight crews, the Rothco N-3B Snorkel Parka is for extremely cold temperatures, whether airborne or safe on land. Because of its length and water-repellent nylon design, it covers everything up and prevents outside moisture from snow or rain creeping in. The drawstring hood can be cinched shut for added protection against the elements, while the sleeve pockets give you space for other kinds of gear Read More

Of course its great...its a Rothco!
My paternal grandfather was in the Army Air Corps and then the Air Force followed by my father. My maternal grandfather was in the Navy as was one of my uncles and my little sister. Hanging out with GIs during my teen years in Kaiserslautern, DE (they had booze and I had hashish) led me to choose a different path so I was never issued any of the gear I so desired. This coat is great although I chose a size much too large and can wear any of my regular large winter coats under it easily (I look like a grounded Macy's parade float lol). I too thought it should have included a liner as my Dad's had one and when I replace this with an appropriatly sized version I hope to secure a liner for it as well. I've only worn it 3 times as Colorado has a reasonably temperate climate overall and I refuse to travel further north in winter. Each time it was cold and snowy enough to wear I was kept warm and comfy in there during my commute using public transportation. I bought the Rothco gloves too and they were so warm a coworker "borrowed" them and neither have been seen since.

The coat is very warm and aside from getting a size larger than what I expected no complaints on this purchase. Im about 6ft, 280lbs and went for an extra large when I think the large would have been a much better fit for my frame. Also lost a button on the jacket but barely notice its gone.

Absolute garbage quality. I'm an Army Infantry veteran, and I bought this for nostalgic reasons; and I thought I'd get a parka as rugged as the one I had in the Army. This jacket is not even close. I was going to throw it out, but opted to donate it. At least someone will get a free jacket. Maybe I'm wrong, and this was aimed at those "rugged" millennial urban outdoorsmen. You know the ones, the big beards, and stylish lumberjack flair; but have never hefted anything heavier than a latte, or participation trophy.

Got this to replace my aging N-3B parka from the military. The coat is nice and warm, and less bulky due to newer fiber fill compared to my old one. Has the same issue as my military issue parka with the hand pockets coming undone, and then you drop your keys into the lining of your coat. I think they lasted for about 6 months before I developed holes in the hand pockets. Fixable if you are able to sew, but inconvenient.
