I purchased the rOtring pen and pencil from Massdrop on two separate drops. I'm a teacher and I figured rOtring is heavier duty. Well...I let my student borrow the pen to write something down and he accidentally dropped it from about 2.0 feet in the air. Something happened to the mechanism and the pen won't work. Same thing happened to me with the rOtring pencil: I dropped it on accident, a few feet off the ground, and the internal mechanism that advances the lead broke.
Pen and pencil write beautifully if you don't drop it. I wouldn't purchase this pen/pencil if you are looking for something that is "tough."
