Got mine two days ago and overall I'm happy and it works well. Marble is an organic material and having never seen anything made of marble that had a "flawless" surface, I feel like my expectations were met. Nothing major to complain about. The wood slides around on my desk like it was made with Teflon so I put some slim adhesive rubber feet on it. My only real complaint is that while the top/ bottom surfaces of the wood/marble are finished/polished (like/that?), the entire perimeter is completely unfinished. The tooling marks from the sander or whatever are plainly visible.
nnc-tlbCalcite which is the principal component of marble typically comes from fossilized micro-organisms. Additionally, a tertiary definition for organic is "characterized by continuous or natural development", of which both traits can and often do apply to marble.
CaptainProtoncalcite is a mineral, but in your broader definition:
everything is kinda "continuous" so even nuclear energy is organic ?
but back to the wrist rest, the marble wrist rest maybe organic in my eyes:
if only man powered tools where used to produce the wrist rest.
in my eyes using (heavy, electric powered) machines breaks the "continuous" fact.
If you put a edged stone in a river and wait for few years (10.000 or 1.000.000) and then the stone is round, that I would instantly accept as organic.
CaptainProtonI found it not only strange using the word "organic" for marble, I found it false.
ok, we live in a time of an organic / vegan / etc. hype and alternative facts are also a thing these days.
sorry, for questioning your statement, but other people reading your statement may believe everything you wrote without thinking. but if someone other asked already questions, they may start to think and read more and make an own conclusion.
so it was to help others and not against you, but you are also free to change your mind.
