Interesting piece of wood!
Yes, I really like how random these all are. This one is a little more unique than some of the others I've seen, but I would have been happy with any of them.
WOOOOOOW you got really really lucky with the wood rng, that's best one ever. Also i don't quite recognize the board, which one is it?
It's a Deck Hassium w/MX Browns, love it. The original keycaps are amazing (doubleshot PBT backlit) EXCEPT whoever allowed for those legends to be used should be shot… worst design ever. I'll never stop being pissed off by that… but they are some of the best feeling/sounding caps. Argh!
Dude those keycaps with the wood make it look like a beach (like driftwood for the wrist rest)... Nice set up!
You know, i was about to say that it's not that bad, i mean it makes me think about RPG games for some reason, imagine this legend on a "old worn scroll keycap set", or "worn faded book".....I mean that would be awesome imho.
But....then i went to have a look at the original set.....man.....some of those key designs made me almost throw up. Either way, freaking nice keyboard
PS. how are those wood keycaps? I heard the quality of the cut was rather lacking and uneven
Thanks, yes, I think the creative director at Deck (or whoever it was) was going for something "different" with those keycaps, and there are some who do like the legend design, but if you're going to break certain design conventions, it needs to be done well—i.e. arbitrary character sizes using a font looks cheap and lazy in most cases because of the varying letter weight—too mechanical—at least have it custom designed if you're going through all the trouble in every other aspect so it looks more realistic. Producing those keycaps was quite an investment. Your idea could be very cool if done right and very few legend designs are in script .
Those wood caps are in cherry… maybe I also got lucky with those, but the fit on the switch is very good… the caps themselves have a tiny amount of shape variation, but within the level of acceptability in my opinion… and also part of the charm. But the fit is excellent and they all feel the same to the touch… just be gentle putting on and pulling off… it's wood after all.
