Silly question, but could anyone explain why such a scarf would be dry-clean only?

MykekuNo silly questions here!
The reason for the dry-clean only label is mainly because these scarves are made out of Merino wool, which is a delicate material when it comes to water.
You can potentially still put it through a regular washing cycle if your machine has a Delicate cycle. Personally I'd refrain from that and only wash by hand in the sink if needed -- even a little fabric spray can go a long way to 'freshen up' your scarf as long as you're not trying to remove any stains.
