Full disclosure... I have a two other pairs of Salewa boots: Ultra Flex mid-GTX for trail running and Raven 2 GTX for heavy alpine trekking. I bought the Alps in part because they were discounted so much it was hard to pass them up. And while I have yet to really put the Alps through their paces, I am confident they will become my go-to mid-weight boot when hiking rocky/rooty stuff without too much weight. The boot weight is great; ditto the fit. Salewa lasts just work with my foot (as do Salomon boots and runners) which while they tend to run narrow, the toe box is roomy enough that I don't lose toenails. Both the Flex and the Raven have held up well to abuse. I expect the same with the Alp. I have extensive experience with Lowa, which have also been great. The Salewas have been just as durable but much lighter.

I have a pair of these. I have a narrow and very low volume foot, and these fit me really well. As others have mentioned, the to-the-toe lacing is really helpful for dialing in the fit, as is the volume adjustment possibilities with the two piece insole. If you have very wide feet though, you might want to give these a miss. I'll also say, if you're looking for hiking or backpacking boots, these might not be what you want. These are basically a mid top approach shoe. I find that they climb and scramble quite well, but if you notice, the outsole and midsole are thin and the shoe is flexible. If you don't have a lot of time carrying heavy loads in this type of footwear, I would expect some serious foot fatigue. Waterproofing seems to be pretty good. In October, I wore these on a long (8hrs moving) day out in the snow. Good mix of postholing dry snow and drudging along a still very wet creek bed, with lots of elevation gain and technical scrambling in the middle. Combined with my OR gaiters, my feet stayed dry the whole day.

In the main page of this product woman’s sizes go to 10 but when you go to check out the options only go to 9. Is this accurate, 10s are no longer available?

How's the fit on these? I wear a true 8 length, but I have wide feet so I need 8.5 in D width. I wear an 8.5 Converse. Any recommendations on these for size?

I own a pair of Salewa shoes and I have found them to fit “true-to-size”. Never seen them listed in UK sizes anywhere (ie. REI, Backcountry.com, wanderlustoutfitters.com). Always been in US sizing from what I’ve seen in the past, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have different sizing offered in different countries.
