Comparing the Speed Beat GTX to the Timps and Lone Peaks, the overall cushion, in terms of the amount and durometer of EVA used, is more similar to the Lone Peak. The Timp uses a single density EVA while the Lone Peak and the Speed Beat GTX use a dual density EVA. All Altra shoes have a 0mm drop while the Speed Beat GTX has a more traditional 8mm drop. The Speed Beat GTX has a waterproof/breathable Gore-tex membrane while the Timps and Lone Peaks are not waterproof. The Speed Beat GTX has similar cushion to the Adidas Terrex Swift R2 GTX. The Spead Beat GTX has a traditional lace while the Adidas shoe has a speed lace. The Speed Beat GTX will have a faster strike than any of the other three shoes as a result of the lug geometry following the anatomical strike pattern of the foot.
