Ian, quick question.
Hmm, I've got a medium brown and a black pair but I'm only planning to get one pair of these. I'm guessing conditioner + neutral is my best choice? I should also go medium brown and tone my two pairs of shoes toward the same color lmfao. :D
HouseIn terms of maximum versatility, I suppose reno + neutral is the best option. I remember that was the first Saphir purchase I made.
What I will say is that neutral cream, while still a good product, doesn't really have the same value as the other creams. It will raise a bit of a shine, but if you want a good shine you'll need to use a wax polish anyway. The main purpose of the cream is to restore pigment, and the neutral won't do that. I've used it for a long time and never regretted it, but it won't condition like reno, restore pigment like the other creams, or raise a high shine like a wax. It's sort of an odd animal.
IanAndersonHmm you know what, since I have a heavier preference toward darker colors I am going to swap the neutral for the dark brown cream. Should be quite interesting to see what kind of effect this has on my black shoes and should give a tint of patina to the blacks without being too effusive, however I'd need to test that to find out.
Another follow-up question if you don't mind, these do work on all kinds of leather and shoes right, the effect on each will be different but just in general. I know some creams are very leather specific.
HouseI've never used these one anything besides calfskin. I wouldn't use it on suede or exotics, not sure about cordovan (and there are specific products for that). Are you thinking of something in particular?
