Why do a drop that’s over MSRP?

orphanmeat34Actually it‘s only $50 over. The $499 was a limited time launch MSRP that had s hidden rebate. Actual MSRP is $599.

ElevasAnd actually, SEP is still 499$ from what I can find. So this is 150$ over.

CokemanSource? Everything I've read that is official has said the MSRP has not changed.
Not to mention something on Massdrop being "only $50" over MSRP is ridiculous

CokemanThe story has been updated. $499 is the MSRP for this card, still. AMD claims that it's retailers setting the $599 price point. http://wccftech.com/radeon-rx-vega-64-msrp-pricing-update/

SpamShadowCryptocurrency miners are snapping these up the minute they’re available, and there are rumors that they’re having trouble manufacturing the integrated GPU/RAM dies. I think I read somewhere they expect the pipeline to be pretty dry until October or November. Maybe we’ll see a return to MSRP then.

MastermungThe problem, from what I gathered, is the price of HBM2 that makes them unable to manufacture a ton of units without the price skyrocketing from a massive order. It's expected that Hynix will start producing it and prices will drop.
The problem for a consumer, who is not a miner, is that the card is not worth more than 499$. Especially if you're a gamer who has no plans on using the card's other non-gaming features. You might as well get an nVidia card for a lower price with similar performance or same price for higher performance in games.

ElevasTotally agree with you on the price. The price at $499, coupled with a Freesync monitor, is certainly easier to swallow than an nVidia card/Gsync monitor. It would be even better at $400-450.

CokemanPeople need to stop saying this. This is a untrue rumor that has already been debunk. 499 is the real and only MSRP.
