More than ten years ago, SAXX Underwear Co. set out to make the ultimate boxers—a base layer that’s supremely comfortable and easy to move in. The Blacksheep is just that, recently updated with the softest temperature-regulating merino wool on the market and a splash of spandex for that just-right stretch Read More
I had wanted to try long sleeve sweatshirt like these for a while, but never found one that fit me pretty well until I tried these saxx. I am also particular for merino wool piling, and these does not pill very much especially at this price point
This has become a go to shirt for windy day running. It washes up nicely and is comfortable. Warm enough for layering, or for cool weather, I would not recommend for winter wear in Colorado unless you have multiple other layers. I will buy another if it comes up on drop again.
I'm a big merino wool fan. I've several pullover Ts from Smartwool and Ibex. Saxx has a good reputation, but not in the pullover shirt realm. I must say, I was surprised in pleasing fashion from the get go. I ordered a Mens Large, my usual size. I expected things to be a bit snug, but in fact the Saxx shirt fit is almost loose. A wash and dry heat was enough to make it perfect. And when I say perfect, I mean it feels like I'm not wearing a shirt! The fabric is thin (.15 maybe???). A light breeze pulls away sweat, so it dries much faster than most merino shirts. For me, a heavy sweater hiking in the southeastern, very humid mountains, this shirt is damn near perfect. On cool, cloudy and/or windy days, I wear a wind vest over the shirt to control chill-off. On warm days (below 70F), I push the sleeves up. On cold days (35F and below) which are typically windy or cloudy, I wear a heavier merino shirt from a different manufacturer. To give an idea of temp range compatibility the Saxx merino shirt is cooler than a nice, long sleeve cotton T shirt (such as Patagonia) , but warmer than a Columbia button down fishing shirt. Unfortunately, Drop now only offers knives and keyboard caps. No diversity in offerings any more!
This is an amazing shirt. I'm gradually converting all my skin-contact clothing to Merino. It just doesn't stink! This is soft, comfy and fits perfectly out of the box.
Fabric is good, comfortable. The cut is more like casual T-shirt cut instead of base laser cut. Too loose as a base layer. Not sure whether sizing down can help.
Very comfortable, nice stretch, stitching is in the right places to avoid rubbing when wearing a pack.
Knocking a star off because it runs much larger than expected. I bought a medium, hoping for a fitted shirt that I could wear under a button up, but it feels like a large. (I'm 6' and 185 lbs.) If I buy another, it would definitely be a small.
