I'm curious why so many votings for Chinese watches. Is it because their profit margin is so so high even after giving a discount from artificially high MSRP? There are lots of other watches using much higher quality Japanese movements.

FearlessleaderWhy would people vote for Sea-Gull because of their high profit margins? Doesn't make any sense. What other watches of similar price use "much higher quality" movements? Don't be an uninformed consumer and discredit Sea-Gull just because they're Chinese.

Fearlessleaderthe price is right for what it is. I question whether we could get a similar price on a watch with higher quality japanese movements or not. I wouldn't mind seeing massdrop doing a drop on a watch at this price range with japanese/european/ movement

FearlessleaderThere are 6 respectable watch manufacturers from China mainland with long history and serious investment in watch movement R&D. They are all called after the provinces/cities they locate (traditionally for state companies there): Tianjin, Beijing, Shanghai, Liaoning, Hangzhou, and Guangdong. Sea-Gull is an international brand of Tianjin watch (which is also the pioneer of China watch industry) and it's the most famous Chinese brand known by world watch collectors. So I don't surprise why many ppl voted for Sea-Gull watches here, especially for US exclusive model like this one.
