Wolfman887It's a enterprise SSD, way more reliable & durable than any desktop SSD, that's why price-performance is poor. But if you need a reliable storage for your server, this is a great option.

6GB would be damn impressive in 1996.

JTCPingasTrue, but since it'd be 1996, you'd most likely still be trying to feed that monster with a 56k modem. It'd be like trying to fill a lake with a straw.

Hmm, Random Write IOPS is pretty low. Write Endurance is okay for MLC, not really that spectacular. I guess if you only needed this for a server that mostly gets READ and not written to, it'd be okay. There are better performing drives with higher endurance ratings and better write capabilities. I guess if you really wanted the Enterprise-MLC this isn't terrible since anything meant for Enterprise-use gets price jacked, but I'm just surprised it isn't rated at a higher write endurance than consumer drives.

Yeah, as a Read-Only server drive it's fine. The higher capacity ones also have really good endurance ratings.
It being MLC doesn't really account for it's terrible write IOPS though. Like, really bad random write IOPS compared to other MLC drives.

ZilfallionWell it's pretty cheap to be a enterprise MLC, so I guess some cuts had to be done.

Bring on the rants from people not knowing the difference between enterprise and consumer grade.

Enterprise SSD its okay - but for consumer/gamer use, its way overpriced. In either case if its true speed your after, SATA at ~500MB/s can't compete with M.2 at ~3.5GB/s. Again the fast M.2 is probably way over kill for even most advanced consumer. Does it really matter if your O/S loads in 5 or 3 seconds using M.2 - probably not. If your crunching a lot of data for commercial purposes it can make a big difference, assuming your reading and writing data to the drive and it isn't memory based.
Anyway - my rant is a half explanation and getting to the point of why this is even product even on MassDrop?

KipMNI am guessing by M.2 you mean NVMe M.2 drives, because SATA M.2 drives exist.
KipMNBased on the amount of business grade LG monitors, Sit Stand Desk, and other professional type products that we have sold on Massdrop we figured there might be an audience for this type product as well.
