Strangely, the specs here left off the resolution: 160 x 60. That's going to be relevant for some purchase decisions predicate on specific uses. Between that and the FoV (76° x 32°, which is presented here if not in that notation), something to keep in mind if expecting a wider or more detailed view. This would be good for supplementing other camera based machine vision, not as a substitute for it. Reaaalllly tempted to get one just out of sheer curiosity, but I can't think of any immediate projects I would have for it and can't justify the cost for something that would likely just sit on a shelf/in a bin for the foreseeable future for me. I'd considered whether it might be adapted to some near field applications, but the minimum measurable distance of 25cm is too low for that, and it's not clear how accurate the distance measurement is: given that the range is 25cm to 12m, it would seem unlikely that it has mm precision (trying to find that info in the SDK documentation). I thought of some smarthome/etc uses for this, but ultimately all of them feel like they'd be better handled by visible spectrum machine vision rather than this, or at most a combination of regular MV with an ultrasonic distance sensor (particularly when factoring cost). Still looks fun and tempting just to play with.
