What is this... made by apple? This is way over priced lmao and the funny part is that someone just bought it. That person must be rich and doesn't know what to do with $300.

KITTYI bought it. It isn't that expensive if you take into account that this will be a center-piece decoration of whatever room it's on. It's bigger than it looks in the picture. Also as Will2B said, it has 512 leds, at 0.4 cents a piece that's 204 dollars for just the leds.
My first concern was the frosted glass but they have a version like this in this video http://techcrunch.com/2015/08/11/l3d-cube-video/ and IMO looks much cooler.

PixelPusher21I believe that in low-light environments the clear-version looks better, but with the lights on the frosted cover looks better. Also I think we have to take into account how it looks when its off and the frosted-cover hides the ugliness of the led-strips.
I believe on the long-run the frosted cover will give an overall better experience, but the clear cover its more impressive in the videos that's for sure.

lomelyoI'm not going to lie, it does look awesome. That's a fact, but you're here taking this into account of a piece of decoration and you're counting on how many LEDs there are. If I look at the object and think about it simply... all I see is plastic and LEDs. When I buy something expensive, I always ask myself... how often am I going to play with it? Use it? Watch it? It's a matter of time that my excitement of this product will diminish.

KITTYThat's kind of pointless. It's like going to a high-end furniture store and complain how it isn't Ikea. This lamp is not necessarily to play with, it's to make my living room look cool. I don't think the price asked for this item is much considering how much I would have to spend in other decorations and how the rest of living room decorations item cost.
This lamp fits my house-decor budget, it has very good-value on the components and in my case it's cheaper to buy this than to buy other decorations that could compete with the coolness of this item.
