This was the first soldering iron I have ever owned and I must say that I was very impressed with how easy it is to use.
I bought it so I could assemble a keyboard kit from keeb.io and it did the job well.
One of my close peers does circuit board repair for xray machines and I had him take a look at it to see what he thought:
- initially he did not think very highly of it when compared to a traditional desk-top soldering iron, but he said he liked the overall look and size
- after soldering some keys and diodes with it onto a different keyboard kit, he was impressed with how quickly it got hot and maintained heat

I had a bulky Radio Slack hunka soldering iron, was often cursing at its ungainliness and imbalance. This by contrast is an excellent. light, reliable tool, excellently easy to use and compact.

This iron is small, easy to wield, easy to store, and perfectly suitable for basic soldering needs. However, the extra stuff you get with the deluxe kit isn't that great, which makes it hard to justify the price. If I could do it again, I probably would have just bought a cheap, basic kit somewhere else.
