Anybody own one of these? I need to know how this does with shock. I'm looking for something to rock at work but don't wanna go upscale/professional. Also lot's of shaking going on at the job. Will I gain/loose lots of time with this movement?
I'd imagine I would gain too much time to make this a reliable time piece for the job.
WatchfiendWould love to meet the guy who convinced half the world's population of follow-the-heard, twenty-somethings that using the word "rock" in place of the word "wear" didn't make them all sound like morons!
And just out of curiosity--since we're speaking of work in your case, are you also rocking socks and underwear, and maybe a pair of pants and a shirt too? Or is it only the watch that will rock?
Wonder what you'll be rock'n when you get a little older?
RayFWell RayF, since you asked considering the family history, I'd say adult diapers, a mild case of alcoholism and arthritis not sure exactly where though. Oh almost forgot, and if I'm really lucky cancer.
MarPablThank you MrPabl, I've considered that and am currently using 1 of 2 Timex watches but I'd like something with a little more style, history and for it to be an automatic watch. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with Timex, hell their motto use to be "it takes a licking and keeps on ticking" or something like that and it was/is an American company.
WatchfiendAbout average for the typical American lifestyle. Quit rocking cigarettes (or probably vaping, in your case) and you may add a few more quality years to the mix.
RayFYou're not going to let my use of the word rocking go are you Ray? I had no idea it bothered you so much... What else "gets your goat"? For the record, I don't smoke and never have and vaping, what the hell is that? I don't understand vaping. Anyway getting back on topic, do you have any experience with either the Seiko 5 range or the 7s26 movement?
WatchfiendOh yes, I have Basalted many Seikos and Igneoused several in the popular 5 Series!
The 7S26 is considered a fairly basic, but reliable movement that's been around since the 90s or so. It works as advertised, but lacks the ability to wind and hack. That omission makes it difficult to set with the same degree of precision you would find in a movement that does allow hacking.
In my book, that's not the end of the world--the SKX007 and SKX009 are very popular watches despite using the same 7S26 movement (however, it's also the greatest complaint folks have about them--myself included). So, the SNK will never be atomic clock accurate, but as you might say, close enough for Metamorphic and roll?
You can read a little more about that movement here if you'd like:

And as always, Andesite on!
WatchfiendThis one will do well and for the price is excellent... It certainly can be adjusted to keep excellent time. I was about to get this but I was able to get an Invicta Pro Diver with Seiko 4R36 movement. If you want a little more sophistication regarding the mechanical movement, you may check Seiko ⌚ with the 4R family...
WatchfiendIt does REALLY BAD with shock. I mean, I love this watch but I had to take it to the watchmaker twice, without even doing nothing crazy with it, so you probably should take real care of it if you buy it 🤷🏻♂️
ButchButchinsonIf your definition of "nothing crazy" resulted in breaking the same damn watch twice, and you were crazy enough to have a damn near disposable watch repaired twice (as opposed to buying something else), I'd say there's about double the crazy running around in your house, than in the typical, non-crazy Seiko household!
ButchButchinsonOh, you thought you were PM-ing @Watchfiend, did you? And you thought I was butting in to your conversation to cast aspersions about your sanity, did you?
Well, you were half right then, weren’t you mate? ;- )
MarPabl5mm can make a real difference. Imagine if a Breitling Emergency were either 5mm thicker or bigger. At 51mm in diameter and 22mm (rounded up from 21.6) thickness and that takes it into Invicta dive styled watch territory.
MarPablAgreed, but, if this watch were 5mm bigger, I don't think I'd like it as much. I think 42mm for this watch would be a bit too big, however, I'm sure it would still sell.
WatchfiendYou should get the green one you like 👍🏻 it's rugged (check reviewers on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000LTAY1U/ )
Yes you may get a 🍋 like ButchButchinson but even in that case you're not losing much 💰
Take in consideration these ⌚ are no longer in production so when they're gone it's for good... And the 🆕 models are notably more expensive in comparison, being the only real difference the caliber which is better indeed, but I don't 💭 as better as the price 📈
Go for it 👍🏻👍🏻
WatchfiendI’d definitely join @MarPabl on this one.
You asked about how strong it was, and I replied on that particular aspect.
But there’s a reason why I took it to a watchmaker twice : I love this watch. I love the story behind it, I love how it looks, I like the size (actually at first it seems small but the more you wear it the more you realize 40+ watches are ridiculously too big), I like the sand color (but the other ones are great too) and for sure I’ll never trash it, it will always stay in my collection.
So follow your heart mate, you won’t regret it. And well, if one day it breaks, it’s a 80$ watch so it’s ok (and just 20$ to repair in my case), not a big deal 😉
