Product Description
Seiko’s “Baby Monster” is derived from the company’s original “Monster” line, which featured the same chunky hands and dial layout. This version—much more affordable than its predecessor—scales the water resistance down to a still-commendable 100 meters, and swaps out the screw-down crown for a standard one Read More

Another great transaction from the Drop. Delivery time was quicker than originally noted. The watch arrived packaged well and BNIB with all the original packaging. The Ice Monster is just what I expected and has great lume like all Seiko Monsters.

Even though I was a bit on the fence about the purchase through Drop (because of the no warranty), I am so pleased with this watch! Seiko quality is there, it's keeps good time (+ 5-10 s/d), looks amazing and wears really well on the wrist. Lume is fantastic (although fades fairly quickly). I can't really find a fault, especially for the drop price

The baby monster is value for the money. As all Seiko 5 the quality is good. On original pictures you see the true colour better. I change the strap on the picture. The lumen is also good.

Seiko makes excellent automatic watches at very reasonable prices. After 2 days the watch is very accurate. As a personal preference, I had ordered a blue rubber strap ahead of delivery. The OEM steel is well made and attractive.

This is a watch I have been planning to get for several months now and I am glad I have it now. Very striking, though it is clearly a tool dive-style watch. The colors are better in person than you expect from photos - especially in sunlight. I have poor eyesight and the day/date display is too small to read, but large enough to make it look like a dial hand, especially in low-light. But this is the case with every Seiko I own and it is obviously something most people would not have to deal with. But if you have poor eyesight, I'd recommend looking at a different style watch - maybe a pilot - and with either a day/date window large enough for you to read, or none at all.

SanDiegoBobIf you need a referral for someone to install the magnifying crystal for you, in the event you purchase one, I can look up the contact info for the watchmaker I used to install mine. He came recommended to me and was super easy to work with. IIRC he charged $50 + shipping back to me

Just a gorgeous watch. My wrist is by no means big, but once I adjusted the bracelet it fit nicely and it looks great on the wrist. It really does earn that ‘ice’ comparison, the silvery dial and the blue highlights on the indices and the bezel contrast nicely. I don’t have a lot of experience with bracelets, but this one feels nice and looks sharp. Wasn’t too much of a hassle to remove links either. The only downside is the bezel movement, a little loose and sounds very tinny. If I could take it off and try to adjust it without damaging the case I would give it a shot. Very happy with this watch, it will get more than its fair share of wrist time.

Was just going over the comments from this old drop and all I can say is congratulations to everyone who actually scored one of these at MD's price of $140 because buddy, that ain't never gonna happen again! Couple of reasons for that: first, in all likelihood the watch has probably been discontinued in both colors (Blue and Orange) and second, we just don't get those kinds of deals anymore on Seiko--hell, we barely get any damn Seikos around here period! There's a lesson in all that--this watch had dropped a couple of times if memory serves, and more than a few guys (**see note below) passed it up thinking there was no particular rush to purchase one--perhaps it wasn't their first choice for a new watch, maybe they couldn't decide on the color, and since it had always been around, they likely thought it would continue to be around--until that day when it wasn't! Yes, watch fans, that day came and went a long time ago and I'm bet'n none of us got that email--the one telling us this was the last time we'd see the Ice Monster, and the last time we'd see a Seiko at what now turns out to have been a better than 50% discount... [image] It's a bitter pill to swallow, but after checking the usual discount sites this morning--Amazon looks to be the only seller with inventory, and their price is $319 for Blue, and $379 for Orange! Whether that price makes sense to you at this point is between you and your wallet, but I can only imagine New, In-box prices for these and all the other discontinued Seikos (SKX, SARB, etc...) we all thought would be around forever, are only going to climb higher. If that price doesn't work for you, it looks like the only alternative is the used market. So, what do you think? Is the Baby Ice Monster worth three hundred bucks, or would you rather spend about that much for one of the new models in Seiko 5 line? **NOTE: as of today, MD has sold more than seven hundred Ice Monster and has received more than 1,000 requests for more. I'm sure MD wishes they could source another few hundred just as much as the guys who missed out do... [image]
