A great looking watch, except for the excessive writing on the dial. I own a couple Seiko automatics but every time I want to get another one I'm put off by the excessive labeling on the dial. Who cares how many jewels the watch has? They're just bearings. More is not better. A dress watch is not supposed to scream loudly to attract attention. This watch would look so much better without the "17 Jewels" label and maybe even with "Automatic" label shrunk and moved to the right of the six marker opposite "Japan Mvmt". Could we get a custom dial Massdrop edition?

HLDmaxLooks fine to me, you're asking for a cheap watch to be perfect, imo its isnt excess at all. I own a few 5's and and sarb033

HLDmaxThat's some Japanese aesthetic coming through, IMO. Of course watch movements are generally marked with the number of jewels, which is something of an indicator of quality. 17 jewels is considered "fully-jeweled" and definitely better than 7 jewels. Seiko certainly didn't invent putting the number of jewels on the dial, but they've taken it to the extreme. They're pretty good at that.
