Product Description
Think of the Seiko 5 SNZG as the big brother of the company’s popular SNK. While both share the same military aesthetic, and both make excellent introductions to automatic watches, the SNZG is—at 42 millimeters in diameter—slightly larger than its counterpart Read More
Beautiful watch. I've had it for a year now and it runs great, and the band feels as solid and well-built as it did when I first got it. Plus I absolutely love the way it glows after it's been in the sun!
Love this thing, have the black with "black" bracelet - it's not really black, more of a dark gray, but looks great, and I love having the lume on the numbers too - the lume is excellent and the watch is very easily read in the dark. Display back is nice, particularly given the number of people under 35 years old who have no idea how an automatic watch works! This has become my daily wearer for the past few months, I really like it. Loses 10-15s a day, which is more than I'd like and I'll probably try to get it a bit better, but is not bad really for a watch in this price bracket. I like it a lot!
metalhead140Thanks for the review!
Whats model number your watch?
I'm trying to figure out if the SNZG13K1 on this current offering has lume on the numbers.
The SNZG13K1 appears to be more of a stainless steel color then what you bought. It could be the photo though, or my eyes.
metalhead140I own both the SNK803 and SNK809. I have them mounted in a dual watch winder and set to spin once or twice a day. I find that my SNK’s keep excellent time. I’m considering buying an SNZG model perhaps a 17J an am shocked that yours comes up short 10-15sec a day - that might cause me to reconsider. Is the watch getting enough movement on your arm throughout the day to keep it fully wound?
This was a must have in my budding stable of Seiko timepiece’s. Although, the stainless bracelet is gives it the everyday sport watch feel. Once I flipped it up with a couple of NATO straps and it instantly becomes field watch fresh.
Thanks to the solid engineering you should come to expect from Seiko the movement is reliable, it even tells time with a high degree of accuracy. The bezel size and weight are well balanced. Also, the build materials are attractive including the lume. This watch has a high quality feel for a piece that’s so easy on the wallet. It's five star fresh.

Love this watch. Was really looking forward onto getting it and it almost perfectly delivers. Got the SNZG07J1, and the only thing that let me down is the color of the strap, would've loved a more sand\tanned look but it's still good and there are plenty of 22mm straps I can replace these with.
So far seems pretty good at keeping time when I'm using it for a few days straight and it didn't seem to be off by a lot, can place it in between the Orient Bambino Second Gen V1 (better) and the Fossil Townsman Automatic (worse than the Seiko).
I'm a long-time watch enthusiast, and I can honestly say that this has become my daily driver. This is a solid watch which is good for new watch collectors or if you're just looking for something that looks great and had an automatic movement.

Very nice watch.
I wanted a clean looking, more casual watch than my dressier automatics and I wanted to be able to use different NATO style straps. I’m very happy with this watch.
I opted for the “Japan labeled” version. I know some folks on here don’t think it makes a difference but I have other Seikos labeled with “made in Japan” and I think they are sturdier than the Malaysian counterparts. Also, the strap on the Japanese model is a deeper blue and a better quality woven fabric. Even tho I took the strap off, I think it’s worth the upgrade.
The watch is keeping excellent time with a loss of maybe 5 seconds a day. The power reserve seems to be as advertised - If I wear it for a day, it lasts a full day without rewinding. The lume is good. One note - the numerals on the dial are not lumed, but the hands and chapter ring (the inner bezel) are well illuminated.
All the watch you really need. Great simple timepiece you can wear with pride. Goes to show the quality of Seiko when even their entry level pieces are of such high quality. Buy and enjoy!
