Part of Seiko’s Prospex line, each of these watches is equipped with kinetic movement. Released by Seiko in the late 1980s, kinetic movements combine the accuracy of quartz with the winding mechanism of an automatic watch. A fully charged kinetic watch will store up to 6 months of power. To determine the watch’s power reserve, hit the button at the 2 o’clock position—if it skips ahead 30 seconds, it’s fully charged; 15 seconds, it has 3 months of power; and so on.
Note: At checkout, choose between the SUN049P2 (black dial, black leather strap) and the SUN059 (blue dial, blue canvas strap).
Deep-set, with multiple layers, the dial is equipped with applied hour markers that feature lighthouse-bright lume. Hovering above the hour markers, on the outer edge, are minute markers, while the inner ring features a 24-hour clock that seems to sit beneath everything else. But it’s not just about aesthetics. The GMT function—the skeletonized hand outlined with lume—can be set to the timezone of your choice.
