frk3I bought one of these as my first watch.
I've bought a dozen watches since, some 5x the cost of this, and I still love this one so much.
Still wear it every week.
the polish is very shiny, the movement is very accurate, and with the right strap, the round case shape looks really good. Like, a little diving bell.
I would recommend skipping the stock steel bracelet, it's clunky, uncomfortable, and unflattering.
One of my well-to-do customers pointed at the watch once and asked if it was a vintage omega, if that tickles your fancy.
frk3Tbc, I bought an SSC017, which isn't available on this drop.
Black and blue bezel, black dial.
At the time of purchase, I was tossing up between that and the SSC019.
I think the SSC019 would look great on a brown leather nato, or a nice chunky rubber strap, maybe a Bonetto cinturini.
Bonetto cinturini is usually on eBay for about $25.
U could get a brown strap, a blue strap, a black one of course, or even a red strap if u can find the right shade.
What I didn't see in the comments here are the usual massdrop comments about how you can buy it cheaper on Amazon with delivery by Friday.. So I'd suggest that it is worth look around the market to see if you can get it cheaper, or with a better Seiko warranty rather than just the 1yr international warranty which seems to be what u get on massdrop..
Happy hunting! Good luck with your purchase
thefunkfuzzI too bought an SSC-017 (for $195 from Amazon.com in July 2017). Its durability and low maintenance make it a great addition to my collection of divers (Orient, Tag-Heuer, Omega, Christopher Ward). Indeed, I am taking it to Hawaii later this week for hiking, snorkeling, and stargazing (summit of Mauna Kea).
frk3I own 40-50 watches. Some are worth 30x this seiko . I wear the Black/ Green model 9 out 10 days and not a week goes by without a complimt.Make the plung, you won’t regret it.
