I own the SSC701. The $259 price here is less than I paid at a large e-tailer. Pictures don’t do it justice. I love the blue color and the glossy black case. The chronograph is easy to use - you need to unscrew the top and bottom buttons to access the functionality. Don’t forget to tighten them down when done! The silicone band is soft to the touch and lies flat on a flat surface. It feels like it is good quality. This is is my first Seiko solar watch. I have 3 Citizen Eco-Drive watches. The Citizen watches are really nice and functional, but this Seiko is a cut above my Promaster Diver. It should be, though, with a $100 premium over the Citizen. I am happy with my SSC701. I bought it for the looks, water resistance, quartz movement, and solar battery. It should provide me years (if not a lifetime) of use.

You can get a Samurai or Turtle for this price, notice the bracelet has hollow end links? No way I'm paying 259 and getting basically a Seiko 5 style bracelet, personally.

The only one on this list that is even close to being worth what Drop is asking is the SSC701, which is available on eBay brand new from multiple sellers at lower prices, by 5-15 bucks anyway. What a waste of drop space!
too bad the black only comes with silicone band.

CalaverasgrandeProving once again that you can't believe everything you read on MD, especially if it's in a given drop's Specs or Copy, I would point out that the only watche with a silicone strap appears to be the SSC701, which has a Blue Dial and a black case. If you're into blue, don't let the silicone strap dissuade you--they're not bad at all (I have 5 of 'em). Of course you can change them out if you really hate them, but with a black case, you're more limited your choice of metal bracelets. One good choice would be the Black Engineer bracelets from Strapcode (and others). Conversely, there are plenty of nice Zulus and NATOs out there, right? So go ahead--buy the watch!

Well damn it all to hell! None of my favorite Prospex Solar colors/models were included in this drop!

RayFBecause the good looking popular ones don't need to be sold on MD.

Had no idea that these Prospex Solar Chronographs are so expensive. Bought an SSC017 4 or 5 years ago at a Seiko store for less than $200. Must have been a close out.

AUTigerFanIf you're patient you still will find them at under 200 bucks, apparently not on 'Drop' though

Serious question: What is the utility of the compass marking?

SilentGhostYou can use the watch as a navigation aid. The following method will work with any analog watch. However, it is a little easier if you have a watch with a rotating bezel with compass markings. https://www.wikihow.com/Use-an-Analog-Watch-as-a-Compass
