I picked one of these up on a drop a year or so ago, and have been happy with it. One noteworthy thing about this watch is the bracelet. A lot of the cheaper Seikos (5's especially) have cheap, squeaky, chintzy bracelets. Not this one. The oyster style bracelet on the SNZF17 is SOLID and heavy. I was expecting to want to replace the bracelet with a Miltat strap from Strapcode, but no need.
Also: please don't submerge this watch or take it in the shower with you. You shouldn't dive with any watch that doesn't have a screw-down crown, and NO watch (even a legit diver) should come into the shower with you. They call this one a "desk diver" for a reason; it looks like a diver but should stay on your wrist or desk!

breadstickFor those of us who don't know -- can you explain why even a legit diver watch shouldn't go into the shower?
I have a cheapo Seiko automatic and I don't bring it into the shower, swimming, or even do dishes with it... but I fully intended on upgrading to a similar watch with true 100m+ water resistance so I don't have to take it off when swimming.. Now I'm wondering if I shouldn't bother.

thomascjThere are two common reasons: 1) The gaskets are (supposedly) more susceptible to chemicals found in soap/shampoo and steam (supposedly) permeates deeper than water. 2) You don't really need to wear your watch in the shower. As a principle, you should care for your watch and it will last longer as a result. So if you have no reason to keep it on, then you might as well take it off.
I personally think that a modern diver with a screw down crown will be completely fine.

ChristopherJYea, absolutely. No good reason in the shower. I just do a lot of camping and swimming/boating where I don't really want to be taking my watch on and off constantly. I resorted to buying a cheap Casio solar watch for boating/kayaking trips where, and leaving the Seiko Automatic at home. The current plan is (or maybe was) to upgrade to a better Seiko, probably the Kinetic Field Watch that Massdrop recently had (but apparently isn't going to be offering again).
