I have this watch. Just a warning, Kinetic only makes sense if you will wear it often. The kinetic mechanism consists of a mechanical charger and a battery. It takes a lot of wear to charge the battery a little I bought the watch for use on occasion (e.g., on vacations, etc.) . Unfortunately realized after buying it that it needs regular wear to keep charged. If the battery goes too low (from non use), the battery could get damaged and may need to be replaced. Automatic or solar are better options for infrequently used watches.
If you wear regularly it should work great. I wear mine infrequently; and generally find the watch has dropped to the lowest charge level. I should have bought an automatic or solar for this "vacation" watch.

DDroI own this watch in the relatively "rare" yellow face with black bezel.
It's a great beater, all-weather, great for swimming and the beach, and it absolutely does *not* need to worn all the time. Once it has a full charge, it will last several months without wearing / charging and just sitting in a display case.
If you see the the second hand skipping every other second, it means it needs to be charged.
The watch can be charged by wearing, watch winder, or even a slow hand-waving motion (you can hear the charger shifting in the watch as well as feel it), and there is a button that moves the second hand to indicate charge. A full charge is indicated by the second hand moving halfway around the dial (30 seconds).
If your watch is dying quickly, it may mean the charge mechanism is damaged or the capacitor is damaged. This can happen from severe impact or water intrusion.
A kinetic watch will absolutely outlast an automatic watch and can retain a charge for a relatively similar length of time of a solar watch.

shenzahnCool color combination. That would go well with my yellow/black dive gear!
I agree that when charged it will last a long time. My issue is that I don't wear it enough to charge it. After a 1.5 week vacation I can get it (barely) to the third charge level (20 seconds indicator -- which translates to a 1 month reserve per Seiko). Then I get back from vacation, barely wear it, and it falls back to the second or first charge level (indicating a reserve between a few days and a month). I don't think mine is broken -- Seiko's manual suggests that it takes 250 swings to get a day of reserve, which seems to be somewhat in line with my experience.
BTW, the Seiko kinetics don't use a capacitor anymore. They use a rechargeable lithium battery. That's part of my concern -- I know that when lithium batteries fall below a certain voltage (~2.8V on a lithium ion) the battery could be permanently impaired. Of course I could then get it replaced -- but that a PITA.
That's why I suggested for infrequent wear a solar or automatic may be a better choice. The solar can be charged without wearing. The automatic may not hold power for long. But that isn't an issue for me. It would hold the charge for the week or so I wear it, and then next time I wear it I'd just re set it.
For people that wear it more regularly than me, kinetic may be a great choice.

DDroWith the Tissot ETA autoquartz you can ho a good 3-4 days of nonwear, maybe longer. And mine is 10 years old. Also uses rechargable li ion battery.

shenzahnThis watch cannot be used with a watch winder. period. They are notorious for failing if not worn everyday. Induction charging winder necessary
Please ! I have a SUN043 . NOT SURE ABOUT THE NUMBER. KEEPS LOSING CHARGE.

NORDSTERNLately I've been grabbing my watch before starting a movie. While watching the movie I'd swing the watch back and forth for most of the two hours. In handful of wearings I've brought my watch up to the second level of reserve. What a pain in the a##!!!
