these are certainly comedown from the SKX .. I'm saddened by this.. happily I have a couple SKX's All of which were cheaper than this drop (SKX009 $125~ and a A35 $150~ on closeout.at the time I bought them) these are doing nothing for me.. I like diver's watches I HAAATE divers "style" watches.. blah oh well .. Seiko has clearly decided to go another direction in general and not one I'm inclined to follow.. so long and thanx for all the watches Seiko. even though the SKX's are more expensive now that they are discontinued I'd still buy one of them over these.

atarioneTotally with you. This new line does little for me. I think the goal is an entirely new customer base. With the right marketing they might succeed. Here in Japan they sell at retail. The price is right on Drop. The watch is not.

atarioneLove my SKX007 too, and have a nice strapcode bracelet on it... But this is legit the same case with a better movement with a fresh fun face. It just doesn't have the screw-down and 200m rating because of such... Which sucks if you go diving past 100 meters regularly. Sadly I've only been past 100 meters once in my life!

dleblancIf I fall off the boat and drown I'd like my heirs to have my watch. 200 m a must.

atarioneYou bring up a good point: while the original SKXs are still available, one day they won't be. Wonder if the guys who modded theirs beyond recognition will regret doing it? Will originals suddenly appreciate in value and start selling for crazy-big bucks on eBay and Chrono24? Suddenly I'm reminded of that line in Joni Mitchel's "Big Yellow Taxi" "Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
Till it's gone...?"

RayFI’m kinda annoyed I got a nice bracelet for mine and gave away the rubber bracelet cause it felt so trash. I guess I’ll have to re-order one in the hopes of having a 100% completely original down the line

dleblancOrder the more comfortable silicone upgrade versions (for the Tunas); you’ll like ’em better and no one will be the wiser ;- )

dleblancI actually ordered that strap in Navy from Long Island Watch and grafted it onto my Ice Monster. I say grafted because it required some heavy trimming to make it fit. I upgraded a few of my Heimdallr OEM straps to Seiko silicone straps too. The added benefit is the nicer metal keeper:
