Made from a thick chunk of stainless steel, the Seiko Superior Automatic is strong, heavy, and built for the outdoors. To prove it, it’s got a bi-directional compass bezel with degree markings, plus a host of emergency signals noted on the outer chapter ring in case you find yourself in desperate conditions. Backed by 4R37 24-jewel movement, the timepiece has a power reserve of 41 hours. The movement is proudly displayed on the exhibition caseback. The emerald green dial (pictured version) is a nice color complement to the polished case. Between 10 and 12 o’clock is a 24-hour subdial. The date window is also of note: it’s positioned at 4 and shows the previous and upcoming day.
