Is there any other alternative earpads than the stock that can be used?
Yes, all third party HD 6XX series pads are cross compatible. Dekoni has the most options, and just released some “standard” velour pads that supposedly sound the same as stock except they use memory foam, and you can tweak the sound with their elite sheepskin, pleather, and synthetic suede & leather.

Sennheiser headphones sound alot worse with a pad swap just stick to stock pads that you can buy from their website or amazon.

Meant the headband part for the top of the head. But I guess yes sadly about the ear pads. The ear pads are really design to mate well. But are really not great. The inner foam of the ear pads are way too plush and disintegrate after 6 months close to a year if you're a heavy user of the close to the high end sennheisers. Start to bottom out. Every year have to get some new ones. Made not for super long listening sessions like in a studio engineer. I come close to that long listening session. Had the old version of hd 600. Great sound and overall build except the pads. I somehow damaged the inputs of the left and cable plugs. Those were close to first generations anyway. Not really made for studio sound engineer work long listening sessions.

How about the stock foam head part. That actually disintegrates or more like the foam falls apart in the headband. Any aftermarket for that?
wseto2I’ve been using a pair of Dekoni Elite Velour for about three years. I appreciate the memory foam, and they’re still comfortable after all this time. I have three pairs of stock pads, since I own an HD 58X, HD 650, and HD 660S, and the Dekoni still hold their original shape and have shown less wear than my stock pads despite getting the most use. YMMV of course... I may have transplanted the Dekoni from my HD 650 to my HD 660S 2.5 years ago when I got my HD 660S, as I decided to stash a pair of stock pads for the rare case of comparison (I got used to the new signature pretty quickly), but I don’t use my HD 660S every day. I have many headphones, the headphones in highest rotation are my PC37X and HD 660S, but someone who only has one pair and uses just that pair every day would use them more heavily than me. I just got a package of Dekoni “Standard” Velour HD 600 pads in, which apparently are supposed to preserve the sound of stock pads with the rounded foam shape, sealed material along the underside of the padding where it sticks out from the mount and faces the driver (either pleather or vinyl, I’m not sure), and similar pad depth, however they use Dekoni’s medium density memory foam instead of the stock regular foam. Long term durability to be seen, but they’re $25 bucks a pair. Dekoni is also making an HD 600 style “4-bumps” headband, but I prefer the HD 650 (and 660S) “centered notch” 2-bump style headband because my hair is thin up top. But you can buy that or a Sennheiser headband strip, and replacement slides in fairly easily. If you wanted, you can pay a small fee to send in your HD 600 to Sennheiser to fix your earcup input jack, if you’re having trouble with it. All of the headphones with this style earcup are made to be repairable.

EvshrugCan't. Sadly it's trashed now. O well. First generation anyway. Yeah. I knew I could get the new plug ins. But had try to permanently wire them. It's gone. This was way before sights like this. Should've just got the parts and not hard wire mod it. Live and learn. Might go with the shure headphones 1840. Once I can see a chance for some cash flow. Shure headphones looks good. Next year for the sale if it comes.

wseto2No problem, thanks for being OK with how long the response ended up being 😅 But yes, there are first and third party headband replacements for this headphone.

wseto2Now always trying to get the same sennheiser hd 600 sound signature in different brands of headphones. There's beyer dynamics, focal and shure. Shure seems like it. Had they're low end introductory model. Liked the sound signature. But I'll be going to their high end version. It's not planar magnetic. But affordable. Some planar are a bit too pricey and questioning the build. This hopefully in 2022 for new headphones. not in these times. Need the money like everyone else. More important things.

EvshrugOnce you've heard quality. All headphones signatures don't sound that good. Only close. Sigh.

“Pandora’s Box” Digital art by Ray Reposar. I know what you mean... I’m closing on my first house purchase on March 12th, feels like I’ve been saving for this for years (and yeah, I’ve been researching homes since 2018, trying to live frugal since I got an apartment with my wife in 2015). The thing is, only the HD 600 and HD 560S sound like the HD 600. You might just come back to Sennheiser next year 😂

EvshrugWho knows. Lol. Once you try quality in certain things. Definitely hard for anything else. Almost everything is second or 3rd. Almost! Sennheisers. Hardly nobodody is going to buy the orpheus uber model. Unless you want to sacrifice your car or marriage. Maybe your children university grant. Or a few parts of a body. Or the house. Bill gates has 3 of the orpheus.
wseto2Lol, talk about a Pandora’s Box! I can’t afford an Orpheus either, but...

I’ve had I think 5 demos? Sennheiser told me (pre-Covid) they can only make 200-300 per year, and they sell every one. I saw a concert violinist and a (music?) professor having a demo, and the violinist cried, and the professor bought one and an extra headset (you can drive two from one system) on the spot, stating that this was going to be the best headphones of their lives before they get older and can’t hear as well. I would be jealous, but they were such incredibly nice people I couldn’t help but wish them well and hope they’re enjoying themselves.

EvshrugYou should never audition the best that can possibly beat the planars or electrostatic headphones. Enjoy what you have or you might be tempted to throw away all the high end headphones you have or your family members or wife would say. Are you %#$?! The prince of dubai might have 20 to give to his children.

wseto2Not unless your suppose to be a reviewer and you'll be disappointed from the reviews of the high end headphones that cannot compete with the orpheus.
wseto2I used to do reviews, but I’ve had to give it up for the foreseeable future. Good times though! I do enjoy what I have! And not just because I have like 20 headphones and IEMs to choose from, but I still genuinely enjoy things at different price points. Sometimes you just want something while laying in a hammock, chilling out 😎

EvshrugI forgot. Top of the line he1 is $74,000 now and they are electrostatic headphones killer. More like $85000 with tax. If you try to get the same sound in room speakers. Will not have enough room in a house. Depending. The whole room, with room treatments.

wseto2Don't go to those audio shows anymore. Rather just read it or youtube it. Obviously not the same. Don't dream about sound upgrades really anymore. Going that's realistic and have a life!
wseto2Well, we can’t go to trade shows right now... but I loved going to CanJam NYC. Just a $20 bus ride, and an adventure to a big city (I live in PA)! Felt like I met friends there, shared passion. Inside jokes. And of course, hands on time with boutique stuff! Hopefully by the time vaccines are common and the trade shows come back, I’ll have saved up some “fun”ds. Someday I’d like to give CIEMs a try again, but the one time I did try I had a bad impression taken. And wow, I remember when the HE-1 was “just” $50k! Nice chatting with you! Good luck with your Covid savings and everything, and finding joy and appreciation for good things you already have! To your health🍻

wseto2If you’re searching the Sennheiser HD-6## signature in other brands, I guess you look for higher quality, else you could buy the original?! The Focal Clear is like a HD-6## on steroids, the closest match to the 6## line while lifting it to the next level. Can be had used at more reasonable prices now than the original $1600, which was over the top.

I personally use the Brainwavz Microsuede pads. They are very soft and of memory foamed pads and are usually on sale for about $13-$15. They ship from HK or China so expect the delivery to be a little long. Do yourself a favor and do not buy their ear pad ring set though. They are 3D printed and very brittle. The set I bought broke almost instantly with the slightest flex and they don't snap in correctly. Instead you can reuse your old rings by cutting three slits on the back of the OEM pads to removed them. Snap them back on and you're ready to go. Hope this helps.

With Sennheiser selling their consumer audio line, will Drop be losing this line of products?

Nah I very much doubt it, the buyers made a point in saying they're going to keep most of the audio division as is

I got some nice ones off Aliexpress by the company "Open Heart". Good quality and a fraction of the price (All 600 series use the same.)
