I understand that the $300 worth of Drop points are included. With that said, this is not what I personally come to Drop for. And looking at the comments, I don’t think I am alone. We don’t want points. We want products with a significant price “drop”. It can’t get any clearer than that. I hope this message reaches someone in the company who genuinely cares about this community. Because you are losing us slowly. And that would be a shame.
JonnyModenaThis should be upvoted to oblivion. I commented in the drop for the Beyerdynamic DT770 Studio 80 ohm for $145. The 80 and 250 Ohm Pros are elsewhere for the same price or a couple bucks cheaper. What has this place evolved to?
JonnyModenaAgreed, this site was a place where we could group buy enthusiast products and get a price reduction based on volume. Now the only reason to come here is for the collaborations. Massdrop was a community and a place for communities. Drop traded everything that made Massdrop unique for a slick looking website.
JonnyModenaI just came here to agree with you wholeheartedly. I'm not interested in points that are tied to a future Drop purchase that may or may not happen. I came to (Mass)Drop for the drop aspect and the great collaborations. I just passed on the PC37x headset because I can get the GameOne on Amazon for less, it might arrive sooner, and it includes the shorter single plug cable. This website isn't what it used to be.
JonnyModenaLast I checked, Drop is still Drop, and not really that different than when they started. So maybe they're trying to expand their demographic or their relationship with Sennheiser. Since you are not obligated to purchase these, I fail to see what the big deal is. People can be such NIMBY's...
jaffeYou are VERY wrong. Drop is VERY different from when it started as Massdrop. The original thing about this site was getting discounts through negotiating with companies in offering them garanteed bulk sales and thus getting discounts.
The more people opted in, the better the bargaining power and the better the discount.
At the moment the only thing that distinguishes them from any other audio/knife/lifestyle website are their eclectic selection. (if you look at it critically, headphones sold next to tents, pants, watches, pens, boardgame gear, gaming gear is a really weird selection)
And the odd collaborration that turns out really well. Though from the reviews....some of those are deemed not very impressive by the critics (planamics anyone?).
LX_Emergencynah. you're just being stubborn. "The more people opted in, the better the bargaining power and the better the discount." That business model didn't last very long; before the drops were over they kept getting beat by amazon and specialty retailers...and then, of course, the little babies would start crying all over again. Sounds like a good idea, but it's inflexible and doesn't scale well. Frankly, my money was on that they would have been bought out or absorbed by Amazon by now.
They still do what they used to do, but now they do more and some of what they used to do, they do differently. How dare they try to grow their business and expand their customer base! I get it, though, change is hard.
The uproar over the 820's is comical and a bit pathetic. You guys just sound so ridiculous.
jaffeSadly, you have not realized yet that not one person on this thread has taken you serious. All in all, I do respect your position. Because I believe we all have the right to have our own opinions and we all have the right to take time to express them. I just don't personally spend my time trying to change other people's opinions. But, hey, enjoy bud lol
JonnyModenaSlow day, Johnny Mo? hahaha you sound bitter, and bored. that's cool too. Personally, I don't sit around feeling entitled and giving out short-sided, uninformed opinions on how someone's business should be run, but I respect your right to be wrong, entitled and bitter, "bud". hahahaha
