I won’t spend too much time reiterating what others have already said about the HD820- the clarity deficiencies, lackluster graphing, and overall questionable performance to price-point ratio, etc. etc. The HD820 is what it is, and what it is not is a top-tier closed-back... not when compared to the current echelon. I will point out that it’s nearing the time we might begin to see some price cuts on the similarly-retail-priced and wildly superior Focal Stellia... which is very much a top-tier closed-back.

starterKeen to buy the Stelia at some stage. I do have a Focal Elegia and the Sony Z7 in addition to the HD820. The HD820 is a different level compared to these two at least.

entreprenerdYeah, it's a great can... you should definitely consider a pair. I don't mean to say the HD820 is not an excellent headphone; it very much is. It's just that the pricepoint Sennheiser has positioned it at shares market space with the best headphones on the planet. IMO, it's not quite on that level. Certainly better than the Z7 and Elegia tho.
