Can someone recommend replacement cables for the ie8? Love the sound but not so much the stock cable (my RHA’s MA750 stock cables are soft/high quality). I’d like to have something lime that for my ie8’s.
Thanks
I just got mine and they sound absolutely beautiful out of the box! They have surprised me in every song I listen to due to its incredible soundstage and separation. They sound so rich, so sweet and so clear.
I just LOVE them!
I'm totally with you bud..I have a few of the Massdrop-released mid-fi-ish headphones, specifically really enjoying the hd6xx as well as the he4xx lately, but this is my first venture into this range of IEMs and have absolutely been nothing short of stunning. The detail they provide while managing to avoid any harshness or sibilance, their fantastic instrument separation, wide and lush soundstage, dynamic quick and satisfying (and adjustable) lows, and their still intimate and forward presentation of vocals and the mids to upper-mids in general has me appreciating new details in music I thought I was already intimately acquainted with. It's given a whole new life to a lot of music I hadn't listened to in quite a while, as well as brought to me a new level of appreciation as to what a properly built and tuned set of IEMs can sound like!
I find myself digging up as many albums as I can find in order to listen for new tracks or details within a specific track that are revealed by these, much the way I found myself obsessing with listening to anything and everything I could get my hands on when I picked up the hd6xx's. And then all the more so when I listen to them with different equipment as they scale brilliantly with different amp/dac setups. I have not been this pleased overall with any IEMs before..I've never had a pair I've enjoyed enough to reach for on a regular basis, even when having the choice of them or any full-sized over-ear phones I own. Bottom line is that these are an absolute steal in my opinon, and sound positively fantastic for the going price of the drop ($129.99 USD I believe) and I would definitely appreciate and enjoy them even if they were in a higher price tier than they were. Very well-rounded set of IEMs! Thanks Massdrop (and others who vouched for them as well)!
Got mine today! Sound lovely out of the box. StI’ll need to put in more time on them and play with the tips amd bass nob. I will compare them to my LZ A4s.
they look higher quality then in the photos, as well as feeling very comfortable. So far very pleased.
Thanks, I missed the first email (must have gotten filtered), but they canceled it on December 27th. Apparently the item was backordered and they couldn't guarantee there would be more made. They gave me a $10 coupon for another drop.
I get this service has its benefits and downsides, but this one kinda stung. I passed on a pretty good deal for a Shure SE535 ($300) figuring these would suit me. I think this drop had a limit attached to it, which is why I figured it was a pretty safe bet. Definitely would be cautious about going in on another drop with a long expected wait.
ThisIsntSteveThat really sucks! And I know saying sorry will not fix anything but hopefully this deal can come back pretty soon (I requested it to bump-up the amount of people interested).
Otherwise, I really hope that you can get the SE535 for the $300 at some point, which was most definitely a good deal!
Cheers!
HortmI compared to four other in line control IEMs I own, and they are all within 1 inch of each other. The ie80i is actually the farthest away of the four I own. You might have an issue with in line controls on IEMs in general, as this is a good length.
Just received mine. Superb sound. Very happy with my purchase.
Gear tested on:
iFI iDSD (IEMatch on) headphone amp & DAC
iPhone 7
This unit is certainly bass heavy, but by no means overly so.
i used them for half a year when my original etymotic ER4S was broken. I guess i just don't like the IE8's sound signature and it's just like how some people wouldn't like the etymotic sound signature either.
but IMO there are better earphones out there in the market that combines better value + decent soundstage + nice mids with much better detail retrieval.
