I had a friend buy a pair of momentum true wireless 3 earbuds when Woot had them on sale for 129. They arrived at her place with the legendary dead right channel. She reached out to Sonova customer support, the new owners of Sennheiser, who offered the TMW4's as a warranty replacement. I was very excited about this until they arrived and the mic was scuppered when she called me to test them.
I've been lurking in the sennheiser reddit forum and these units are also experiencing significant quality issues. Has anyone had issues with theirs bought here? Maybe Massdrop gets the vein of goodness that has higher quality?
I recently replaced the pads on my original "numbered drop" 6xx's, but they've otherwise been trouble free.
What are people's long term experiences with these units?
I can currently buy these cheaper from Sennheiser AU with free shipping. Please Drop, don't advertise products to me that I can buy cheaper in my own country. I've bought stuff through you that I can't get over here, and I'll probably do so again, but if I can buy it here, and especially if the price/shipping is better I will always do that. Set your emails up to filter by country please.
These changed my mind about wireless headphones.
For years I've struggled to find an audiophile-quality bluetooth headphone. I've tried all the major competitors in the high-end category, and they all left me feeling meh. From connectivity to sound quality, none were worth their higher price, or could compete with comparable wired 'phones. Then, in 2022 that all changed. The first wireless headphone that made me reevaluate the virtues of BT was the Sony XM5, introduced late last spring. Wow, did they sound good! So much better than their predecessors, and they'd finally got noise cancellation to where it didn't give me a headache or compromise SQ. I thought these would be keepers. Then I tried the Sennheiser Momentum 4. Despite a bunch of complaints about buggy software, and my previous bias against the Sennheiser "House Sound," I thought I'd give them a shot. All my reservations vanished once I started using them. By the time I purchased my pair (this past January), all the kinks seemed to have been worked out of the software, and, as much as I enjoyed the XM5s, the Momentum 4s sounded superior. I A/B'd them for several weeks before picking a keeper, and the 4s were the ones I preferred each time I listened. They even bested the new B&W Px7 S2, which is better built, and sounds great, but isn't as balanced as the Momentum 4s.
I finally found a pair of wireless headphones that satisfy my audio nervosa: the Sennheiser Momentum 4. See my other comment below for more about why I think they're so good.
Headfonics review of the Momentum 4
"The Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless is a very good wireless ANC headphone. It is supremely comfortable, has great-looking materials, and has a premium, well-thought-out design. It sounds great in wireless mode, and the ANC is fantastic, easily on par with the titan Sony WH-1000XM5."
