Kyo9999This is a premium, modular, all-in-one music-player/DAC/amp. Did you look at its feature list and specs? (I think it would be easier to list what it doesn't do!) It probably sounds great... "expansive", even!
Just because something has a relatively high price - and you cannot afford it - doesn't mean that it's over-priced or not worth the investment for those who could appreciate and enjoy such a truly unique, jack-of-all-trades device.
ticozI'm unaware if any "original" model. But price is not an indication of quality, perceived or otherwise. You'd be wise to look into actual users' experiences... or better yet, audition it yourself before passing judgement.
Other Shanling products have previously shown up on Drop. The two companies mutually benefit by showcasing various models in Shanling line-up to increase customer exposure, with Drop taking a sales commission.
mattrisI understand the whole premise of massdrop has changed since it got revamped into “drop”, and that we should no longer expect that projects here are brought in in order to amass enough buyers prior to a factory run to ensure all the output of a single run is paid for in advance and thus brings the price of the product down since there’s no need to ship those to a store and pay multiple layers of people which drives up the cost of the product. Now drop is just a platform for companies to access a clientele and that’s that. I know there is endless b*tchin’ about it on every discussion on this website, but hey, maaaybe if the people who run “drop” would listen to their clientele we would all shut up and give our money for shinny new high quality equipments at a discounted price without compromise to the quality. “You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one”
