I'm happy with my Shanling M2s, nice construction, good sound, decent power, volume wheel no problem; but I wouldn't buy this M3s just for the balanced output. Shanling better catch up with the field and offer a touchscreen display or they'll be left behind quick! I just bought a Fiio M9 which has better power, balanced output, Wifi, LDAC bluetooth, and supports apps such as Tidal. Cost of the Fiio was $299 but worth the total package upgrade. Come on Shanling! Even the Fiio M6 now has touchscreen for $149.
jblundonIMO M3s provides more neutral sound signature. M2s has slightly enhanced bass and trebles, so it is also a matter of sound signature, not only balanced output. And M3s provides longer battery life.
Two questions in case anyone knows
a) Is this android? (I'm looking for non-android lean and efficient ones)
b) Is there a comparison to the Xduuo x3 II
Thanks in advance!
Yeah, I didn't know about the G7, either. Just knew about the V series. What makes the V30 better? Because if we're gonna A/B stuff, I agree on the sound quality and simplicity...
How do you feel g7 is better than v30 getting my brother to buy one for a phone and music player to Dave him some money because i just have him one of my quad ba iems for christmas. Does the g7 sound as good as v30 i know our has same audio hard ware right?
Wait I just spent $400 on the new M5S dap and this has the same dual DACs..
The appearance even looks like the same DAP.
i do like the M5s because it has a black background with no hiss on my very sensitive Campfire Audio Andromeda.
What is the main difference between this M3s and the M5s?
ES100 does have one of better app packages and EQ. I still use Q5 even without EQ though :( I wish FiiO took some features. Now I have a broken ES100 and an working ES100 collecting dust.. also, half-size Q5 would probably be more ideal shape for me.
There are 2 options:
a) load up your micro sd (no bigger than 256gb) using your computer.
b) connect M3s with the provided cable (or presumably any usb c cable), the default for usb connection is for "USB" which functions perfectly as a card reader -- same speed, functions as option a.
HifiHeroIn terms of sound M3s is much better for my ears. It lacks Android functions but provides higher sound quality, especially better dynamics and detail.
I had purchased one recently from the big A store, I wanted to downsize from my former ifi dac. I had tried a Activio ct10 and had returned it as it didn't sound that great. I was getting worried I had downsized too soon, but after listening to this on a balanced cable, I am very happy with the sound. Very comparable to what I had with my old ifi. I use dsf/flac/wav formats.
The interface is clunky and like 1980s -- most functions are via the wheel, rotate and click. I can cope with this as I have a great sounding Pioneer DEH-80PRS in my car that has a horrible UI.
If the UI is critical to you, you probably want something else.
If the sound is critical and you want portable, I think this sounds as good as the ifi micro idsd.
One more item -- the bluetooth is hirez, but it is flakey, changing volume can cause sound skips. I really enjoy the wired experience with my Meze 99 and this.
I have yet to try it as a dac, will update when I do.
It has basic questions from april left completely unanswered. Is their anyway the manufacturer or the drop staff to get a handle on some of these important questions?
