To anyone looking at these, the case is very restrictive in terms of eartips. It is so shallow that I couldn’t find any other tips that allowed a little deeper insertion but still would charge. They are fantastic sounding headphones and made really well though, so if you don’t need them to sit deep in your ears they are great.

TheBigTEAThat’s really a drag about the case, but these are not the only true wireless ear phones to have a problem with restricted ear tips and the ability to charge. I returned the HiFiMan true wireless ones to Amazon for the same reason: The only ear tips that worked in my ears wouldn’t allow the buds to charge in their case!

rebbi1What did you end up with? I've been trying to find a decent pair that would fit longer eartips.

FwirlI ended up with the Jabra 75ts they honestly don’t sound as good as the Shanlings, but have a better fit with the Spinfit eartips I bought (sorry can’t recall the model).

FwirlHi there, so, I actually ended up abandoning the search, at least for now, for "true wireless" IEM's, and ended up going with wired earphones with a Bluetooth receiver. I have both the Radsone ES100 and (more recently) the FiiO BTR5, and they are both pretty great, albeit in different ways. I like this set up because it means I can get myself a first rate set of IEM's (first-rate for me, of course) and enjoy the advantages of wireless connectivity. I do want to say that if I were going to continue looking for a pair of true wireless IEM's, I might go with the HifiMan’s , anyway. Battery life on those is tremendous and Bluetooth connectivity is also great (in terms of being able to walk away from your source and not suffer any dropouts). Also, they are surprisingly isolating from outside noise (passively) and I also found them very comfortable in my ears. The reason I got rid of mine, ultimately, was not about the charging case/long ear tip issue. It was that, to me, even after the recommended break-in time, there was a kind of "plastic" resonance to the sound that I could never quite get rid of. But, if you're able to try a pair from Amazon, let's say, or some other place where you can return them if you don't like them, at ninety-nine bucks they are worth checking out. Perhaps you would love them! :-)

rebbi1Honestly, you can't exactly compare a true wireless functionality to an iem + bt receiver combo. Most people looked for true wireless earbuds solely for the convenience without wires. As you have mentioned about true wireless, connectivity should mostly be resolved with bluetooth 5 in my opinion. Battery life isn't really a big issue as more brands are dishing out true wireless earbuds with an average of 5-6 hours of usage in a single charge. But I do agree with your point to try them out and refund if dislike. Fortunately for me, there are quite a bit of audio stores in my area that allowed me to try various brands out before deciding on which to get. And after all these testings, I come down to the mtw100 black/red version as the best budget option.
TheBigTEAWith regard to eartips that fit into the shallow case, have you looked into Dekoni’s TWS Bulletz? I do some photography for them, and they recently came out with a shorter variant of their Bulletz specifically for TWS.

PotatoRawrYou make a good point that having a Bluetooth receiver with wired headphones is a very different experience than true wireless IEM’s. There’s nothing like being able to pop a couple of wireless earbuds into your ears and go about your business. I’m just saying that for me, it’s a solution that is working for the time being.
rebbi1Right, all the difference between being fully wire free and plugging into something the size (and clip/placement ability) of an iPod Nano.
