This is a very nice looking bag from the outside, and full leather at the price many places charge for canvas and leather....but, this would concern me a bit:

With no spacing between the slots, and pleated pockets for the handles, you're going to have to be damn careful when rolling and unrolling. I know this is a common pattern, but I'd rather see the pockets be tighter and let the leather stretch to the handles, so they're snug in their dedicated spots, not able to shift side to side or tilt at an angle Also, serious question, as I've never used one of these: Do people really store them tip down, like in the first couple of pics? How does that not cut through the leather and stitching over time?? I know the description said 'suede leather, durable, stands up to your sharpest blades' (paraphrasing), but....umm, the blades i use specifically for cutting leather, well, those ARE some of my sharpest blades lol
KavikHi Kavik, Thank you for your questions and some good points! Indeed, in an ideal situation the pockets should have a tighter fit, even better would be to have an allocated place for each knife. But since there are different sizes of handles and blade widths, we find this sizes of pockets to be in good balance. Also, once you cover the blades with the top leather part and roll the knife bag, the knives are stored quite tightly and do not move around. Things can be improved, but the more you go into such details, the more it becomes a custom-made roll and then prices go quite high.. We've had these knife rolls for 1.5 years now and so far we haven't heard any complaints from customers about the knives rattling around. We do agree that the best way to store knives in any knife roll is with the sheath on, in the photos of the knife roll you see that some knives have the sheath on and some don't. It's more to showcase the knife roll and so it is easier to see that there are knives in there, but one should either have less than 10 knives in it (to have enough separation between the unsheathed knives) or have the knives sheathed. Same goes for your leather knives, please store them in a sheath or wrap them in a cloth :) I'll reach out to Drop to update the product description to be more clear about the storage of the knife. As for the knives stored downwards - we don't recommend storing them this way (handle in pocket with a sheathed blade is the best). As you pointed out, you either need to be very careful when pulling blades out of the pocket, otherwise through time you will indeed cut the stitches/leather. This was again to showcase the knife roll and to display the handles of the knives. Cheers, Grega

sharpedgeThanks Grega Just to clarify, i figured they'd be nice and snug once rolled up, was just worried about the proximity during the rolling and unrolling process. What you're saying makes sense though, and I suppose it should've been obvious. Only a few of the knives I've owned have had their own sheaths/sayas, many more haven't, so I didn't think about that as being expected for storage solutions like this. If it were me, I'd reconsider the tip down, naked blade pics then, if that's a risky way to store them. You know eventually someone is gonna stick a knife right through the bottom, then be like "well wtf? that's how the picture showed it" 🙄 Anyway, thanks for elaborating. And again, that's a sharp looking case.... Pun intended 🤣
KavikYeah, not many knives come with their own sayas.. We were already thinking of creating some low cost protection cases for the knife roll, just to make sure that the knives are always safely stored. We see that some chefs use the knife roll without the sheath and so far we haven't received any issues, but you never know. I agree with the first photo, I'll ask Drop to remove it (it will have to be for the next drop, Im sure they are very busy these days, as we are..:/)
