I love these socks. They are extremely comfortable and can be worn without liners. If you are a liner kind of person with normal hiking socks, you will probably be a liner kind of person with these. They provide extra warmth in cold weather and breathe relatively well in warm weather. It is my experience these socks are not "waterproof." After hiking 2 hours or so in a heavy rain and not avoiding puddles and light streams of water, my feet get wet. This is not a deal breaker for me because material that is breathable will allow water in at some point. This is my second pair and will buy another when I wear a pair out.

I wear these on Search and Rescue drills, and searches, as well as hikes on or near the AT. Comfortable, feet stay safe and dry, and after almost a year of having them, they're still good to go. Just joined another drop because two is better than one :)

I did not find these to be waterproof when using them to cross a stream at the beginning of a two day backpack in WV's Cranberry Wilderness. My feet stayed wet for the entire time after one sock leaked immediately after coming out of the box. Great concept, minimal execution.
