i would recommend the tennmak pro if you're strapped for cash and can't wait for the drop
i compared them side by side to the se215 and i swear to god the pro sounded better.
this'll probably last longer though

billpikaYou're not wrong. Shures are very out-dated in terms of their sound. They shure got a great build, but the sound is average at best. Probably worse than average, depends on who you're asking I guess. I have tried many high-end earphones and headphones so my perception of what's good and what's not may be different from someone else's.
I understand that they are going for that darker and warmer/smoother sound. But there's a difference between a dark sound and straight up muffled and recessed 20$ earbud quality. The frequency graphs don't lie after all.
Next to the Tennmark pro, Meelectronics M6PRO is another example if a much cheaper and better sounding IEM compared to Shure.
Unfortunately Shure has many admirers and fans who are swearing by it and defending it, so naturally any negative comments or critique about Shure will get extra hate from the fans.
I really love how Shures are built, impressive, comfy and durable, isolating sound very well. But the sound was just a no. I tried all models from the SE215 to 535 and they are suffer from the extremely muffled and recessed frequencies, some more and some less, but it's still not a clear and detailed sound like you'd expect for the price... (and yes, I did have a good seal in my ear before someone points to that) I hope I won't get stoned alive for saying this.

CamperIVone day the pro-se215 and anti-se215 forces will collide
but imo, they are so insanely overrated and with the advent of cheap chi fi with removable cables, not worth. 1 se215 is three tennmaks!

CamperIVIt's wrong to dismiss the entire Shure line. I agree that the SE215 are less than spectacular, but I have had the long-mourned Shure E4 (attached cord crumbled), SE315 and SE535 (replaceable cords) and I have spent some time listening to the very pricey SE846. The upper-end Shures are still strong--not at all muffled, and the soundstage on the SE535 and SE846 are pretty remarkable for IEMs.
