Still Made in Portland

To say that Shwood comes from humble beginnings would be an understatement. The company’s first pair of sunglasses was whittled by hand from the limb of a madrone tree. They were fitted with lenses purchased from a corner store, and finished with a set of rusty hinges from an old cabinet. That was 2009. Today, Shwood has replaced the pocket knife with a laser cutter. The lenses, though they’re still ground to spec in-house, hail from German manufacturer Carl Zeiss. And the home office? It’s still in Portland, Oregon, but it’s no longer a literal home. Some things never change, though. Like that first pair of Shwood shades, each pair today is made in Portland with the goal of showcasing the natural beauty of the materials.

Note: At checkout, choose black, gunmetal, or matte gold.

Retro-Inspired Aviators

Inspired by the history of aviation from the 1940s and ‘50s, these unisex sunglasses update the classic aviator style with modern details. The ultra-thin titanium frame is accented by real wood inlays on the double bridge and arms. The round G15 polarized CR-39 lenses offer 100 percent UVA and UVB protection, while the adjustable silicone nose pads provide a comfortable fit.
