2019 Edit: Used this bag this past week at 17*F with 30+mph wind gusts in the La-Sal mountains @10,500ft under Mt. Peale (that was a mouthful + light snow on the ground). I'm still enjoying it, and my original review below more or less spells it out. This year I have tried a quilt or two out, even using a double quilt for my lady and I on the Timberline Trail. While that worked, even she prefers this bag to hers/quilt (and has since picked up the women's version). It's enough like a quilt for me, while still not forcing me to use pad-straps. It's a hybrid, so there will be pros/cons versus a traditional mummy or quilt. I'm still liking it. Original 2018 Edit: I've used it twice now at 20*F for quick over nights. (Might have felt like 15*F with about an 8mph wind hitting me) I've taken my Klymit KSB 20, 2016 model, down to 8*F, wearing my puffy, so I've been wanting to test this bag as it gets colder for comparison. I dropped 1lbs by default over my KSB by going with this bag, and it packs smaller. I was toasty at 20*F, wearing 250g Merino first layer top to bottom, and I feel like I could easily go to 10 as I was dressed. I tested the second time with my puffy, and I was sweating too much to be comfortable. I like not having a zipper, as I've never seen a bag not snag. This came in handy at 3:17am when I woke up to about 20 coyotes howling through a gorge. As I laid there thinking, "This is the life," I stretched my legs and got a charley-horse in one of my calves... causing me to shoot straight up, blasting out of the zipperless bag in pain. Handy! I've always felt constricted in a zippered bag, and knowing I can whip the blanket off at a moments notice is pretty rad. This is my first bag with a pad sleeve, and I was pretty happy with it. I've recently been setting up my tent with a Tyvek ground sheet, and the tent floor slides around. The pad and I slide around with it, but I haven't slid off of it! Bonus! I do notice that tiny bit of compressed down/fabric missing on the underside of this bag, than with a traditional bag, but I also will use a Thermarest Z-seat to compensate if my ass gets cold (and haven't needed it, yet). I've paired this with the Klymit Insulated Lite pad. What would I change? I side sleep these days, mainly, and I tend to alternate sides as the night progresses. The blanket wrap in this is one sided. I wonder if they could maybe even have a slit on the closed side, at the top-most baffle, so that I could sleep on the opposite shoulder, still be able to breathe outside of the bag while tucked, and still keep my head inside the bag. This same asymmetry also makes the cinching of the head-portion a little off-center feeling, but it wasn't enough to really bother me. I'd also love to see more bags with a stretch-style flexibility built in as with the KSB -- the reason I choose to take that bag over fancier ones I've had in the past. Overall, this bag has replaced my KSB. I have 3 more short trips planned this year to test it. It's warm enough for me, thus far, and I'm happy to keep using it.

My first real trial of this bag was an 8-day/7-night backpacking trip in Sequoias NP in late summer, spending 3 of the 7 nights above 10K feet. It performed flawlessly. Temperature swings were pretty serious, from 70º+ days down to 30º nights -- I slept in my puffy on the coldest night of the trip, and was overall pretty happy with my warmth/weight choices given the weather. It was awesome to be able to either throw the cover off when it was warm or tuck myself in tight and cinch down the hood when it was cold. This bag beats a zippered mummy every day of the week. The pad sleeve worked well even though I only had a 20" wide pad and I was never cold on the ground side. With a 36L frameless pack (Gossamer Gear Kumo) and a Bearikade Weekender can as a necessary item, space and weight were at a premium, and this bag fit the bill in spades! I topped out at ~31lbs on the first day with all the food, and finished~17 on the last day with a can full of trash. My previous bag was almost a pound heavier and much bulkier than this, so I was very grateful for the space and the weight savings. Every day of that trip I looked forward to shimmying into this bag at night and feeling warm and snug after a long day of hiking. Can't wait to bring it on the next one.

The Dri-Down is incredible insulation. I had used this for my camping in 59 Degree Fahrenheit and 95% humidity cold rainy day. Everything was soaked and wet and I could feel moisture even on the outer shell of this sleeping bag. But, when I went into the sleeping bag I felt really dry and comfortable in there. The sleeping pad pocket works nice. I had put the Klymit UL insulated V for the camping and the Therm-A-Rest Neo-Air X-Therm for another camping. Those ground where I slept was slope a little bit but I've never slipped off from those pads. The zipperless design is so good. Especially, when I had use this on the hammock and try to go to a pee middle of night, I didn't have any stress in and out the sleeping bag. That was the great advantage. Still, the front flap wrapped around my body so I had never feel coldness. I think it because the flap has a small shoulder pocket on the corner. I am sensitive to cold so I don't know it can be used at 35 Degree F but I'm pretty sure I will take this to the camping in 45 Degree F around. One thing my preference is the bottom of the entrance. If it goes toward feet more, I mean if the entrance was bigger a little bit it would be much easier to get in and out. It may be 2" more. I review it on YouTube as : https://youtu.be/lDXIlx2oqn8 And the video that I used this is here: https://youtu.be/ne50frXqz_A I really love this sleeping bag and it becomes my main bag through Spring to Fall.

I bought this months ago, and finally got to use it on last weeks trip to the Adirondacks. The first night, we had unexpected snowfall & super wild winds. It was in the 20’s Fahrenheit (w/o windchill). Well, after 2 minutes inside this bag, I felt the toasty warmth surrounding my body. I’m beyond pleased with this bag. It fit my body perfect. I love the wrap around closure WAY better than a traditional styled bag. The weight, and packability were phenomenal. I FULLY recommend this bag.

There's a lot to love with this bag, primarily the lack of a zipper. It is easy to get comfortable in it and it packs down into a really small ball and is really light. However, I personally found the 20 degree rating to be a little optimistic. I do tend to sleep cold, but I was getting cold in it once it started to drop below freezing. The 20 degree bag will make for a great three season bag and will be what I grab for almost everything, but you will want something warmer in colder temperatures.

This makes a great summer and shoulder season sleeping bag. It’s really light and compressible, the material feels great and the quilt style and foot box opening make it comfortable to sleep in even when it’s fairly warm. Highly recommended!

I've been waiting for a zipper less down bag to drop! I don't like being confined in a mummy bag, but LOVE camping in cold weather. I want to be warm, but zipping up around my face makes me a little breathless, so needless to say, this is heaven sent! I've cranked the air way down and slept in it a couple of times on the couch being that it's 90+ degrees outside right now in LA (lower Alabama). THANK YOU MASSDROP! LOVE IT!
